It hits you, a strange dragon summoned from stranger shores, as you scrutinize the monuments of the Nexus.
You're out of your depth.
It had been one thing when the counsel's greatest emphasis was solely on prefacing the kingdom's relative lawlessness, this was entirely other: looking up slightly at elaborate metal and glass statues, garnished with chimes and plants dedicated by citizens and perhaps even businesses. But, no, most jarringly is the clarification that some glass-heavy members of the ensemble are deities, the carefully colored material of their silicate glory dampened by star's oppressive heat. If it weren't for the plaques you would have never known.
There are exceptions of course. The founder's commemoration looming from the middle of the courtyard is also made mostly of glass, barring the granite wings spattered purplish-black and spread to shade. However, theirs is also adorned with jewels for eyes backset by black granite sockets.
In simple terms it's unrecognizable; the deities, the traditions, and even the art is unfamiliar. Certainly, if all those tales of explorers sailing off the coast of the Shifting Expanse were true, they found their adventure here.
You'd already be drowning if it weren't for the counsel.
Reintegration seems an inappropriate word for the work you'll be doing here. The culture has evolved away from Sornieth's, and coexistence would be a more apt goal.
