You could try and see what happens. If you notice no interest then you could toss some pings in a post. I have moved my pings from the first to second post and that seems to work normally.
That's okay, it has happened to me before. I think it's a glitch or bug of some kind where pinging in the first post takes people to the wrong thread. Pinging in the second post of your raffle should bring people to the right thing! :)
