KuribohPalkia's Clan

The Illusion Trench is said to be located somewhere around where the Sea of a Thousand Currents meets the Scarred Wasteland and the Tangled Wood. This area was once home to many dragons, with the Water dragons living in a large trench that was said to lie in the bordering sea. But conflict soon erupted, the fighting was nearly constant and the land was almost completely destroyed by it. But one day this area suddenly fell completely silent; neighboring clans were curious why, so they went to investigate.

All the dragons in the area had vanished, and to this day no-one knows why or how; there were no abnormal amounts of blood and no trace of an Emperor. However, all the structures that remained were either heavily distorted or irreparably damaged from lack of maintenance, even though only a few hours had passed.

The clans started to feel very uneasy for some reason and decided to go home, but they noticed that the dragons that had gone to investigate near the water had disappeared. They searched tirelessly for them, but could not find them and went home with heavy hearts. However, a surprise waited for them there; when they reached their lairs, the dragons that had vanished came to greet them. After many questions, it was discovered that those dragons had absolutely no memory of going to the battleground and thought that their clanmates had gone on a hunting trip and they had been left to watch the hatchlings; all the dragons told a similar story.

A week later, after word had spread, a more experienced search party was sent out to find the missing clans. When they arrived they found that the terrain had altered almost beyond recognition. The land had seemingly sunk several meters and was now protected by a sharp drop, the vegetation had also recovered completely and was now thriving; all evidence of civilization was gone. But the biggest change was that the water had claimed about half the entrenched area and what was left of the land was now a mix of Shadow and Plague terrain and vegetation.

- Dragons get attacked by Emperor

- After chasing them far away from the area, the Emperor vanishes

- Dragons dub the area the "Illusion Trench"

- They possibly go back to question the clans that originally investigated it, but find that the clans don't remember ever doing that

A few weeks later, a handful of the clans that had first vanished from the area were found to be alive and well and had merely been moved to places that were far away from their original locations; one clan was found as far as the Starwood Strand. Further questioning revealed that these clans had also had their memories erased and altered: they had no memory of the Illusion Trench, any battles that they had fought there, and they believed that they had always lived where they were found.

All the other clans were never seen again.

- You can't trust what you see; false walls, exits, and monsters are everywhere

- Dragons that get lost in it either vanish forever or end up back at their lairs without memories of the trench

- However, the Illusion Trench also appears to be a temporary safe haven to those who are fleeing or being attacked by the beastclans. As those dragons can enter and leave the trench completely unharmed and with memories intact. The offending beastclans aren't so lucky though and are, without exception, never seen again. There are no Beastclans in the trench because of this
