HISTORY
Deep in the ancient ruins of the Mirrorlight Promenade, a dragon clan resides. For the most part, the ancient walls of the castle still reach proudly towards the sky, despite centuries of neglect and erosion. Time and the harshness of nature have taken their toll in some places. There was once a beautiful, vivid courtyard in the centre of the castle, but it has since been overtaken by weeds and undergrowth. The doors to the courtyard—decorated with an intricate pattern of roses and thorns carved into rich mahogany—have rusted shut. Several meters to the right of the rusted doors, the wall has crumbled—collapsed in on itself from the ineffable, unbearable weight that accompanies the slow and ceaseless passage of time. The rubble has been cleared to create a new entryway to the overgrown gardens beyond. Vines creep up the castle’s walls and dig their greedy fingers into the stone. They’ve begun to slink inside from the site of the courtyard collapse. Inside the castle, scorch marks unfurl across the tattered remains of faded carpets and tapestries. No amount of diligent scrubbing will ever banish the memory of flame and ash from these ruins. The castle refuses to let its sorrows be forgotten. Like the dragons it now protects, it wears its past with the solemn sort of pride gained only through tragedy.

They’re a clan outcasts and pariahs, stumbling upon the ancient ruins for a lack of anywhere else to go. There’s not much left to salvage in the derelict castle when the first of the clan happen upon it, but a few pages of the library’s abandoned tomes have remained somewhat legible. One of the dragons is tasked with going through them to see if there is anything of use to be found in the forgotten words of forgotten dragons. She doesn’t find much, but in one decaying book, she reads a phrase that remains lodged in her mind long after she sets the flame-licked tome back on the shelf: dum spiro spero. While I breathe, I hope.

She shares it with her clanmates when she finds herself unable to banish it from her thoughts. They become as enamoured with the phrase as her, and it is adopted as their motto. The next morning, another dragon proposes the name Ortu Lucis—Rising Light—for their clan. Despite how tired and world-weary they’ve become, the dragons find that the new name and motto fill them with a sense of purpose and belonging. Dreams of a better, brighter future spread through the clan like wildfire. With a label and a lair, they start to believe that what they’ve found within the walls of the weather-beaten ruins could be a permanent home.

Note: I sometimes level and exalt dragons that I have either bred or purchased from the auction house. I will never exalt any dragon not obtained by one of those two methods. I'm also really great at buying dragons to exalt, levelling them, and then falling in love with them and keeping them instead. One of these days, I'm going to start a hatchery/rescue so that I don't have to keep expanding my lair. Feel free to message me if you want to chat!

Thank you for selling Alev! Know that he is a permanent resident and will be getting a lot of lore and whatnot eventually. Was so happy to come across a dragon with the correct colours. I never have that luck haha

No worries about his cooldown, he was too cool not to snag. And Orlena is going to be one of the clan ambassadors. Her outgoing personality helps out a ton with that!
