Dragon Soul
OOC Thread
In the land of Delvia dragons and humans live relatively in peace. The humans respect the dragons, having fought them centuries ago and lost miserably; and the dragons, having lost far too many of their own kind to the humans, allowed a treaty to be formed with the humans to keep them out of their lands. The war ended with the birth of a Dragon Soul, a human who shares their soul with a dragon, and forms a bond that none can compare to. Though this in itself is a feat worth mentioning, the dragon soul's only show up in times of great need, and have mystical powers that help them to do whatever feat they were chosen to do. Though the Dragon soul's are shrouded in mystery, the only thing consistent in any findings about them, is that there is only ever one awakened at a time, and only when the land is in dire need of one.
Until now.
The beastclans have gathered army, angry with the humans who think themselves better than any beast in the forest, and the dragons who can best them with the flick of a claw, and have been feuding with them for centuries.
But there is rumor that they are growing uneasy, something is disturbing the peace the humans and dragons have, and claiming all the land they can in the mean time. Something darker seems at hand, though. The beastclan usually scream for vengeance, but they've never done anything more than rally or vandalize property.
There are 11 of us now. 11 Dragon souls, and it's up to us to find out why we are here, and what we can do to help.

There are 11 types of Dragon Souls, one for each flight. Though there is both human and dragon, they share the same eyes as their flight, and something more.

Earth Earth dragon souls are hardy people. They can lift more than any human or dragon should be able to. However this is normal for them. They can also cause the earth to shift beneath their feet, causing earthquakes in their wake. Though this is a magnificent ability, the intensity of the earthquake seems to lie within the emotions of the dragon souls, both dragon and human. The dragon counterpart can move the earth, lifting large chunks and allowing their humans to move the rocks as they wish, either to shield themselves or attack. The humans have been known to be able to lift the earth out of the ground and use it for shielding or for attack, able to shoot the rocks wherever they wish them to be by moving their bodies (think earth benders), and the dragons have been known to be able to manipulate metals in a similar manner.
Fire The legends say that Fire dragon souls could walk through fire, and they may not be joking. These creatures can withstand high temperatures, able to channel the heat out of their bodies somehow, and keep them alive instead of boiling their insides. The dragons can breathe fire, blinding white hot fire is emitted from the maw of the dragons, however this does take quite a toll on both parts, as the humans can use this fire to do their bidding, bending it to attack as needed. If they get overexcited or some other strong emotion, there is a high possibility of nearby surroundings catching on fire. They can also cauterize wounds by touching them, though it leaves a scar of course.
Wind Wind is always felt, but not seen, and the dragon souls that represent this flight are no different. They can move without the slightest sound, almost as if they can carry the soundwaves away from anyone who could hear them, or as if they were always floating just above the ground. The dragons have high flight endurance, able to outfly any dragon large or small, no matter their own stature. They can create large gusts of wind with their wings, and whisper to their dragon soul from across a battlefield. Along with this ability, the dragon souls can manipulate the pitch and frequency of the wind around them, able to amplify it to their will. Along with this ability, the humans can harness wind around them, and bend it to their will, with the dragon's large wings able to gust the wind in any direction at any speed they prefer. Possibly the most amazing ability is the ability to heal, although slowly, through a specific Hz. though this ability is slow, and takes fairly strong concentration. There are rumors of echolocation being used in wind dragons, though this has not been tested. The wind soul has also been known to be able to manipulate the sound waves traveling through the air, being able to make their voices travel longer distances or throw noises and voices around their surroundings
Water Though there have been two water dragon souls in the written history, there is not much known about them. They can hold their breath for a duration no one can seem to count, and have such a high swimming endurance that the humans can swim the sea of a thousand currents right alongside their dragons. There is speculation that the dragons can emit a watery substance from their maw, almost as if they were breathing fire, but the liquid is more of a nuisance than anything. Unless their humans are nearby. The humans can manipulate this water to their will, able to control it from distances unknown, and use it to incapacitate or harm whatever is nearby. The souls have been known to be able to purify any water into drinking water, and can lower or raise the temperature of water, but only a few degrees, and the only records of these skills are of an old dragon soul who had been practicing for years. There are records of minimal steam manipulation, and the humans ability to get blood back into someone's body or poison out, however these also came from a dragon soul with years to practice their abilities.
Shadow Shadows lurk and creep, as do the souls that inhabit them. The shadow dragon souls can use shadows to their advantage, playing with the lack of light as one would expect a light shadow soul to play with light. The humans can use the shadows to hide, disappearing almost entirely if they are concealed in a shadow, while their dragons have evolved an organ that can create a dark, oily substance that both parts can control to take down their victims. The distance of this ability is unknown, however there are stories of intense light boiling the ooze in an instant. The shadow souls actually have more in common with the light souls powers than previously thought; when the records from the shadow and light scholars were brought together and examined closer, they realized just how connected these two powers are. The shadow souls have been known to be able to create shadow figures, or figures made out of the absence of light. There have been tellings of these creatures being made out of the ooze produced by the dragons, however there is no concrete evidence to back this up. The shadow figures have been known to be malevolent, throwing people off the beaten path for a laugh or leading them into places where they may not be able to see enough to get out until the light has touched the shadow figure and burned it back to oblivion.
Ice Ice dragon souls can withstand extreme cold. As a fire dragon soul can take intense heat, the ice souls are the exact opposite, able to maintain their body heat in the coldest conditions, or to slow their hearts enough to survive when they can no longer keep themselves warm. This defense mechanism has given many a fright, as they walk up to a creature they presume to be dead, until it suddenly awakes and walks away as if nothing happened. This is not all, though. The dragon can breathe a flurry of ice and snow with the intensity of a blizzard. Their human companion is immune to the effects of this power, it seems, and can walk through it. Stories say that the human can bend the attack around them, and that the proof is in the flurries that appear around them as they move through the gust. The humans are able to lower the immediate surrounding's temperature and freeze blood to keep people alive longer until a proper healer can see to the injured, and can not only manipulate this ability, but can, with great concentration, manipulate the temperature of water enough to freeze it. This last ability has yet to be proven fully, but it remains written in the historical texts.
Lightning As the name suggests, the lightning dragon souls can call upon great electrical storms, able to harness the electricity they gather in the air in short bursts of lightning from their fingertips. They are a bit of a lightning rod, however. It is not unusual for each component to be struck by their own lightning many times throughout their lives, however accounts say that only makes them stronger, with electricity flowing through their veins. The dragons act as a shield, able to take most of the blow from a lightning strike, and transmit it to their humans who can direct the blow more easily and precisely. It is also said, however, that lightning dragons are the ones who call the storms to being, flying high into the sky and beating their wings hard enough to cause the storm they need to fight. Lightning also has the ability to manipulate others for a short time by interfering with the electrodes in the brain, but after manipulating them once they cannot manipulate that person again and it only works through skin to skin contact, however this ability hasn’t been well documented as any who claim they have been manipulated by a lightning soul can’t give concrete proof.
Light Light is Shadow's natural enemy. Though the two can coexist in harmony, they can also ruin each other. Just as shadow dragon souls can move about unnoticed in shadows, light can seemingly coat themselves in light, hiding themselves by blinding any who look directly at them. Light dragon souls often have markings that glow on command, usually when a light is needed in a dark path. Though the dragon souls can manipulate light around them, this is not much of a powerful ability. However, the dragons are said to have eyes that when looked into, can burn anothers sight away. They seem to feed off light, soaking it in until they can channel it into this ability, and it takes quite a while to charge up before it can be used. The light dragon souls have another power, one that can be both offensive and defensive. The "light" within these dragon souls can burn through their skin, causing a blinding light and heat their core body temperatures to something that can physicall burn any who touch them in this state. This is a last ditch effort on the dragon souls part, and this takes a toll on the body, both from the act of overheating and in the act of burning as bright as they can. With the new being shed on the relationship with light and shadow, it has been documented that the light souls can create figures similar to the shadow soul, however these figures are made purely out of light, and have been known to lead travelers back to their intended path, or guide them out of danger. The instant the creature touches shadow, however, it is said that they fizzle out, whether they be figures in the shape of humanesque forms, or something small like a will-o-the-wisp.
Nature Nature dragon souls are able to grow plants at their command. The humans are always known to have a green thumb, almost as if they can communicate with the plants themselves; because they can. The basic necessities of plants are light, water, and soil to get their nutrients, however the humans can touch a plant and know exactly what it needs to thrive. With this ability, the human can grow massive plants, able to get anything to grow at least twice it's normal size. The dragons, however, cannot speak to plants. They can grow them in short bursts, but their talent lies with their ability to sniff a plant and produce spores that they can breathe out like fire. This ability can cause skin irritation in some, as they would literally be getting pelted with the spores of several plants and several miles an hour. Nature dragon souls also have an uncanny ability to recognize and harvest plants that are safe to eat, making them the perfect forest survivalists. Both nature souls also have an affinity to animals and maybe even being able to communicate with them, and can almost instantly grow a plant for either offensive/defensive purposes to to track people through seeds or a vine plant.
Plague The idea that plague has any powers is a frightening one, however it is true; and, if used correctly, quite the powerful way to get things done. Plague dragon souls are able to inflict sickness on others. Nothing too serious, the deadly illnesses take months to prepare and take a toll on the body, but they can spread minor illnesses like, well, the plague. The dragons can, when they channel their energy, begin to even destroy plantlife beneath their feet. A less exciting ability, the plague dragon borns are rarely sick themselves. Whether they are granted with a mastery of every sickness known in their dna, or they simply have the best immune system, isn't known. The plague souls, actually, are thought to be carriers of basically every sickness, but aren't affected. They can vaccinate others against certain sicknesses, but they often have an adverse effect on the environments around them. If Nature boosts the growth of the environment, Plague promotes death in their wake.
Arcane Arcane's powers lie completely on the mind, we think. Telepathy and telekinesis are the known abilities of the arcane souls, however there isn’t much known about their powers. Though the arcane are a people known for their meticulous record keeping, they have somehow lost the scrolls telling of the dragon souls and their abilities. We know that telepathy and telekinesis are powers that need maintenance to stay strong, and would need to be worked just like muscles do to be strong.

She couldn't remember a time when she actively wanted to go into a human city, and yet here she was, standing at the edge of the arcane city, something tugging at her heart as though it were about to rip itself out of her chest and flop on the ground. She was aware of Enra behind her, the towering skydancer peering over her shoulder "What are you looking at?" Zixara sighed. "No idea. Something in there is making me want to actually want to be near people." she sighed, stepping foot into the town and sticking close to Enra as she made her way towards the source of the pull. She stopped, visibly shocked when she stood in front of the arcane library. "No. Uh uh." she crossed her arms, looking up at Enra with her good eye squinted. "I'm not going in the library." Enra glanced at the girl, most of her face covered with the wolf pelt as she glared at Zixara. "Come now child, we have to see what this pull is. It isn't just you who is feeling it." she dropped to all fours and gestured to the door "Come now, let's see what all the fuss is about." Sighing, Zixara shoved open the doors to the library and nearly jumped out of her skin when a dark skinned woman was standing at the ready in the large building. Her cloudy eyes glanced over the two before smiling wide "Welcome welcome!" she chimed, stepping aside so that the two could enter the building. "I've been expecting you!" she closed her eyes and smiled, and Zixara pursed her lips. "you've been...expecting us?" she frowned, waving her hand in front of the womans face. "Who are you and why exactly are you expecting us?" she huffed, crossing her arms. She didn't know why she was there or why this was happening. Enra Ruffled her feathers and looked at the woman. She giggled, "Oh dear me I have forgotten my manners! My name is Elijah and I am a Scholar here, I focus on the lore and legend surrounding the dragon souls! Maybe you've heard of them?" she smiled, tucking her arms behind her back as she looked at the two. Zixara had to admit, it was a pretty weird thing to see, someone with white eyes looking at you rather than through you. She crossed her arms and put her weight on her right foot. "The what?" Enra stood still processing the information. "But that's just a myth? Told to little ones to make them feel safe?" She shifted, staring at the woman. There was no way.

Johan didn't know why he was stopping to sightsee in this sub-rate city of the Starfall Isles- it wasn't a particular classy city in his taste (much marred by the insistent whispering and pointing to his companion), and he should have been heading to the Viridian forest- to "charm that forest belle and slap the Marnilay name on a few children", as Annalise had so subtly put it. He didn't understand why he needed to travel from the castle in order to pass on his lineage.

If you're so superior, sister, why don't YOU go pass it on in order to breed oh so superior children?

The thought was almost enough to make him work him up into a rant again, but poor Aldrich had already been given an earful of his woes already. The skydancer seemed restless, however- and Johan barely had enough time to barter down a reasonable price for some only mildly interesting souvenir before Aldrich was nudging his shoulder and whispering to hurry.

The young lord turned to look in confusion to his dragon as he handed some coins to a vendor for the small trinket, and gave a lolling motion of his shoulders that convey a sort of 'what?' to his companion.

It wasn't long before Aldrich was ushering him along and saying anxiously,

"Johan, there's somewhere we need to go. Now."

The blonde boy gave a quiet sigh, drawling,

"Look, can't you let me procrastinate for even an hour or two? I'm sure my grand appearance astride your back will make up for- "

"Please."

The note in Aldrich's voice gave Johan pause. The awe, the desperation... and now that the skydancer was so insistent, maybe the young lord could feel that same pull as well... or maybe it was the nocebo effect. Johan pursed his lips, then nodded- and the Aldrich's iridescent form started to weave in and out of the crowds. It wasn't long before Johan caught sight of the destination- a library, massive and grand. In the distance, he could see a dark skinned woman, and...

Both he and Aldrich halted, and exchanged a look. A dragon, one that accompanied the woman who was now surreptitiously throwing open the doors- odd. Johan knew what he was courtesy of Aldrich, and it never sat well with him to see a person paired with a dragon.

Could be nothing. Gywndolin visited Annalise, didn't she? We're in a time of reparation and peace. It's becoming more natural. Don't jump to conclusions.

Aldrich's moment of hesitation was far briefer than Johan wanted, and even though the young lord wasn't entirely keen on socializing at the moment, it only took an insistent tug from the nameless force to briskly trot after his dragon. All of the excitement, combined with the warmer weather, caused Johan to shed a layer, much to his chagrin- he himself was never cold, but for Icewarden's sake, the finest coat in the Icefields wasn't meant to be shoved unceremoniously into Aldrich's travel pack.

Johan considered whether being concerned that he no longer had the light blue coat to balance out the black attire underneath was a tad ridiculous when he was going through a positively supernatural experience.

Well, surely not.

Upon entering the library, the yawning expanse of books and knowledge was enough to make even Johan impressed, but what most caught his attention was a seemingly blind scholar woman, talking lowly with the woman and dragon from earlier. Johan exchanged another look with Aldrich, with the skydancer falling back in step behind the young lord as they advanced.

They were in time to catch the tail end of the conversation- enough to catch how the blind woman had versed herself in dragon souls. Enough of this- some bookish invalid couldn't possibly be the source of the pull.

She's probably not even supposed to be here. She's blind, she can't read anything.

But that wasn't cause to just sit here and say nothing. That was rude, to just sulk in the back. Clearing his threat, Johan asked quietly, almost amicably,

"Pardon me, what knowledge have you of dragon souls?"

A genuine question in this case- a test to see if she knew more than he did, if anything at all. In the corner of his eye, he could spot Aldrich occasionally glancing at the other skydancer, and then out to the doors where they came from. The pulling sensation hadn't quite yet ceased, and the young lord was sure that Aldrich, being more in tune with his surroundings, was more discomforted from it than he was.

Il'lan whooped with joy as Nilanth leaped out of the water, wings spread wide as they both basked in the crisp breeze before diving back in. Il'lan stretched his arms forward, cutting through the ocean's surface with no hesitation. Nilanth dove deeper than him, always watching out for potential dangers, before rising back up under Il'lan. Il'lan grabbed handfuls of his dragon's mane and they surfaced once more, salt water streaming down and plastering their hair and clothes to their bodies.

Il'lan shook his head, spraying water everywhere, and slicked his hair back to look around, wondering what direction they needed to go still. Recently they'd felt a strong pull toward somewhere, but Il'lan's sense of direction was nowhere near as precise as Nilanth's.

"Should we keep heading the same way? It doesn't feel like the pulling's changed any," he said, leaning over to look Nilanth right in one big blue eye. His black hair fell down in a damp curtain around his head, though a few strands stuck to his deep brown skin.

"Yes. It's strange, whatever this sensation is." He lifted his head and paddled back to where Il'lan's boat bobbed in the water, though he was studious enough to avoid the large harness of sorts he used to tug it along. Ever since Il'lan had left home to explore the ocean, he'd lived either on Nilanth's back or in the boat, though traveling was slower with a boat. Humans weren't exactly equipped to constantly live on the water without some form of aid, though, so if they wanted to travel quickly Nilanth usually tugged it along.

Nilanth rested his head on the deck so Il'lan could slip off and grab a towel to dry off. His shirt, gloves, and sandals lay discarded on the deck a ways away to keep them dry. Once he was sufficiently toweled off he redressed and grinned at Nilanth. "Let's get to this place and dock, I feel bad that you're always dragging the boat when we need to move fast."

The dragon snorted and moved to the bow. "Nonsense. I enjoy spending weeks at sea with you, and besides, you humans exhaust yourselves so easily when you don't have dry land to rest on. Better to bring a boat so we can explore than to be chained to a spit of land, your home excluded." He slipped his head through the large loop of sturdy rope and looked back to Il'lan, who was also at the bow now.

"Fair enough, we probably need to visit home soon. Want to go after we figure out what's going on with this call?" he asked. "I bet Aunt Fara will make her awesome crab cakes if we go."

"Don't tempt me," he grumbled, eliciting a laugh from Il'lan, and started to pull on the boat, his tail beating the water behind them.

Il'lan grabbed onto the rail and held tight as his dragon picked up speed, the wind whipping past them and drying Il'lan's long hair in no time. He smiled, watching the light dance on the water as they cut across it. Whatever was waiting for them, he was sure it would be interesting.

It didn't take quite as long as Il'lan had feared to reach their destination, though the harbor was certainly bustling. Knowing better than to try tugging the boat through, Nilanth slipped free of the rope and climbed onto a stray rock so he could watch Il'lan take her into port. He'd join him once the boat was docked properly.

Il'lan, meanwhile, was navigating his little boat between ships and fishing boats, and eventually found an open spot at a dock. He haggled to keep his boat stationed for a few days and when the vendor agreed, passed him the money while a deckhand helped tie the boat into place. Il'lan waved to Nilanth once it was settled and while the dragon made his way over, grabbed his beaten-up pack and slung it over his shoulder.

The two greeted each other before Il'lan hopped onto Nilanth's back so they could figure out where to go. After all, there had to be something noteworthy that would call them to this town.

"You think maybe it's someone who knows about dragon souls?" Il'lan asked.

"It's possible."

"Maybe we ought to ask about where we'd find someone like that."

A few confused queries later the two were sent wandering through a small street in search of some sort of library where supposedly all those who lived within were blind. Among the pink and purple stone, the two of them stood out worse than dirt on a white dress. All blue and sun-soaked, they screamed Water Flight and fresh off the boat. By the time they figured out what building the library was, they realized someone else was there asking about the same thing.

Right off Il'lan felt a little weird looking at the pair. He could've sworn they were both chiseled out of ice. Something about the human just seemed rather... Arrogant. That was the only word Il'lan could think of, but then again, first impressions weren't always right. That's what his fathers used to tell him. Figuring it wouldn't hurt to at least try to be friendly, Il'lan slipped off Nilanth's back and waved to the pair and the possibly blind woman he'd addressed. "Hey."

"Hey."

Felkestmaar grunted as she aimed her head towards the Arcane city, where there were loads of humans. She felt a wave of revulsion, as she'd never been a big fan of humans in general. Still.. there was something calling to her.. pulling her in despite her instincts screaming at her to go the other way. She folded her wings against her back, leering at the city through her thick armor. Certainly the smell of Arcane magic was strong, sweet with a musty quality like putting one's nose into an old book. But then there was the overwhelming stench of human.. a smell she couldn't quite explain, but one the dragon knew well.

"Yuck." Felkestmaar hissed, the feathers on her head flaring outwards to show her distaste.

Kazul wandered up behind Felkestmaar, resting a hand on her silky-smooth feathered side. "It won't be that bad."

"Easy for you to say." Felkestmaar hissed, lashing her tail. "You are a human. No offense."

Kazul narrowed her eyes at her dragon. "Would you not make my race sound like pests?"

Felkestmaar gave a side-long glance to the human beside her, turning her bird-like head to face her human, the straps on her head armor dangling freely. "I will once your race stops acting like pests. All of these structures that your kind builds. Instead of living off the land, you bend the land into what you want it to be. Your race must control everything.. and think you are the dominant species. This is why, ages ago.. long before i was even a thought.. dragons once hid themselves from humans. Humans are panicky, stupid creatures.." She flicked her brush-like tail. "Well, at least most of them have proven to be."

Kazul gave her dragon an irritated glare, but it was hard to argue with the logic the centuries-old dragon was using.. insulting her kind in such a way that it was difficult to say anything back or argue without sounding completely stupid. her face turned a shade of red as she punched her dragon's leg, right where the joints of her armor stopped.

To Felkestmaar the punch was like a tickle, and she snorted, smirking beneath the helmet. Still, she didn't feel like arguing with her human right now, so she backed off a bit, feathers twitching by her head. "So i guess we have no choice?" she turned her head to stare into the city, eyes narrowing in a predatory fashion.

Kazul nodded, her hand resting on the small, hammer sized mace by her waist. "yeaah." She stated unhappily.

The two entered the village, drawn by the pull, Felkestmaar was clearly unhappy about this entire situation, feathers twitching uncomfortably as they passed humans in the street. Of course, most of them stared, probably because Felkestmaar was a dragon, and the only dragon soul they had likely seen was their Arcane one.. They'd probably never seen a dragon with armor before.. but it was necessary in the plaguelands.. and she wasn't going to go fighting beastclan without it.

They came before a library and the both of them narrowed their eyes. "Why?" Kazul asked. She was not the best at reading, considering she'd been taught so late.

Felkestmaar was looking visibly disappointed at the sight of a library. She was too big to read mortal books, she could stick her claws right through them, and the words were so tiny... and she knew that Kazul wasn't particularly fond of books as well. "The dieties wish to punish us." She gave a joking smirk.

Kazul shot her dragon a similar smirk, opening the door to reveal a woman waiting for them. She was a dark-skinned beauty with sightless eyes as white as her hair, complimented by white clothing and a tan staff. A magician of some kind from the sight of the staff. Kazul brushed a lock of dark hair out of her face, narrowing her eyes into slits. There were other dragon souls here...evident by the fact that there were other dragons... Felkestmaar squeezed through the doors, flattening her feathers and wings against her body so she could come inside after her partner. She remained on all fours, perched like a feral wolf, fairly certain it would be frowned upon if she took her normal pose.

Felkestmaar gazed at the other dragons, noting she was the only one with armor, and that she was larger than the female Skydancer. She gazed over at the male Skydancer, admiring his white and blue feathers, and the glittering white gems that made up his third gene. And then her eyes flitted to the other female Skydancer, with her weirdly brownish black primary, and bright blue secondary and tertiary, she was an oddly colored creature indeed. Though she had to admit, she could appreciate the dragon's taste in fashion, the wolf pelt over her shoulders was certainly impressive. Still, she couldn't be too impressed, she didn't know if the dragon had slain the wolf herself or not. And then there was the Imperial.. impressively large.. sapphire scales. She did like to eye up her competition.. and as of now.. none of them had really impressed her.

Kazul glanced up at each person in turn before focusing her red eyes on the blind witch lady. Just standing still, Kazul seemed as intimidating as her dragon. This was probably because there was always something a little eerie about Plague Souls. Likely because their red eyes were unsettling. or maybe it was just because Kazul was carrying a small mace that looked recently used.

Kazul and Felkestmaar elected to keep silent, the two gazing over at the source of the pulling magic.. which they assumed was the witch lady.

(( I think I'll keep Leila out of the party for now - maybe she could meet up with someone else? Also, this is shorter but I'm in the middle of class so. ))

"Oh my." Lei all but purred, sinking into the water below her. Beside her, Leodegan stretched his wings out, nearly dislodging one of his Birdskull pieces. The redhaired girl rolled her eyes, pulling off her green cloak fully and discarding it along with her black sleeveless top. "These secretive folks have some awesome water. Why've they been hiding 'em?" She poked a glowing fungi with her leg, her eyes gleaming with curiosity. They were... squishy, not strong like those in the Labyrinth. Under her touch, the fungus swelled in size, causing Lei to cringe backwards.

Leodegan sighed. "You need to be more careful. Next thing you know you'll accidentally summon a murderous tree monster" The wildclaw yawned and settled beside his partner, who had stiffened at the warning. He raised himself lightly to scratch at his ruff. "Gladekeeper, Leila, I was joking. I don't think that we could do that, especially not while we're here in the Tangled Wood."

The two had begun their more... perilous travels only a few sunrises ago. Leodegan was convinced her right arm had not fully healed after she had broken it; Lei was still unconsciously cradling it close to her. Even now it was pressed up to her chest, right underneath her breasts. His skin hot with embarrassment, Leodegan turned away. He doubted friends looked at other friends while swimming, particularly when they're of different species.

"I can feel you thinking from here," Lei's complaint had the wildclaw turning back to face her, green eyes nearly glowing from beneath his mask. She had removed herself from the water and was currently rummaging through her satchel. While waiting for her to continue her sentence, Leodegan hooked out a green shirt with a ruffled backskirt handing from the edge and offered it to Lei. She took it with a grin. "but seriously, I'll be fine if we get into any skirmishes with the residents. Honestly, I'm not sure any humans even live here."

Lei pulled the shirt on over head, hair caught in the fabric. She let out a few hissing noises of pain, and practically threw herself to the ground. The red strands sprang free almost instantly, and Leodegan huffed with amusement. "I clearly remember you saying that after we left the island. You know, before we even reached the Woods. And we were attacked by a band of scoundrels." Lei shot him a glare as she rolled her right shoulder and stood, as if indicating that it was fine. Leodegan pushed a pair of black slacks towards her as he continued; "If it weren't for me, Kolki would have literally thrown you off the ship and alerted the captain that yes, there were a pair of stowaways on his ship." He scraped his hindleg against the ground, relishing the feeling of his claw going through mud. He sensed more than saw the flush creeping up on her cheeks.

Lei snapped the utility belt shut, adjusting it until it felt comfortable with her pants. She couldn't stop staring at the swelled mushroom from earlier. "I forgot to send Azura a letter," she mused. Lei snatched up a bird-esque mask and secured it over her face. The Viridian Forest native had always felt safer behind it, and she wondered if that was the reason Leodegan was never seen without one. "she's going to be so upset with me. Probably won't send anymore seashells." Leodegan chortled, bending slightly to allow his companion access to his back. Lei grinned and hopped on.
