Another ugly nest has hatched! But first:
For Ash's mate, I found this tundra that came with the name
Masato:
I don't think I need to keep harping on how much I hate the color pink. I do actually sometimes like pink and green together when they are made to resemble some of my favorite fruits, but this boy looks nothing like fruit. These specific shades of pink and green, together, were popular "preppy girl" colors when I was growing up, so I particularly dislike them together.
I didn't actually notice I'd managed to sneak capsule, one of my favorite genes in here. Its just so hard to notice on tundras, with all that fluff. And its red, a color I don't terribly care for either.
Speaking of tundras, my least favorite breed finally made it in here! Their faces
really creep me out. A little too uncanny valley. I think they could have been a really cool concept if executed differently, and I might have liked them if they had been, but with the unnerving derpy face they have now I absolutely cannot stand them.
On to the nest! We had another 3 egg nest, so there was a nice array of options. I've been really lucking out with the spiral breed passing on - 2/3 of these kids were spirals! I was so worried I was going to be cursed to tundras from here on out.
Let's go from worst to best this time.
So worst is, of course, our little tundra kid,
Memories. She got the short end of the stick in both breed and colors.
Not a ton to say here that hasn't been said. I can't stand tundras, I'm not huge on metals unless the genes and color palette are built around that color, fun fact I don't at all like the color antique, and to top it off we have a nice clashy coral thylacine. This poor kid didn't get the memo that we're trying to breed the ugly
out.

Next up is, debatably,
Sauerkraut.
I'm honestly having a tough time deciding between Sauerkraut and her brother, who's coming up next.
Giving her such a cute name isn't helping. She has two colors I genuinely like, honeydew and white. I would
love to get things moved to those parts of the color wheel, instead of being stuck in brown/pink/red land forever.
Her tert is blush, which is unfortunate, but as you'll see in a minute, I'm stuck with pink no matter which spiral I choose so I'll just have to pick the lesser of the two evils there.
I'm leaning away from keeping Sauerkraut only because her overall look is less appealing as a whole, but I'm going to think on it for the next couple days - after all, I have to wait for them to grow up to level and exalt the leftover siblings, so I have a little wiggle room to make my decision.

The dragon that is, debatably, the best of the group is
Grapefruit:
He can be considered the best only because his overall look is the most apealing. He looks like a literal grapefruit - his skin is the rind and his wings are the flesh of the fruit, especially with that ripple gene adding a pulpy texture. I did just say I like things that look like fruit.
But breaking him down to his composition, the only thing that I particularly like about him is the primary color, grapefruit. Its a fun color that tends to look nice, though its not one I get as excited about as the gray scale and green ranges that Sauerkraut has.
The rose I, of course,
hate and having it on his wings makes it a very prominent feature.
The red thylacine isn't great on its own either, and is only getting a pass here because it matches nicely with the orange tones from grapefruit.
I have some thinking to do on these kids.
Part of the reason I'm leaning towards Grapefruit is that it feels a little more in the spirit of this challenge to go for the overall aesthetic rather than a strategic choice - but on the other hand, choosing my heir is the only chance I get to put a little strategy into this otherwise completely random project.
So I don't know who I'll choose! I'll update with the heir I've chosen and their mate in my next update!
In the mean time, feel free to chime in with your opinion on which spiral I should go with to help me decide!
