The small Skydancer pushed forward, desperation driving them forward. Unfortunately, they weren't paying attention to where they were stepping.
A yelp escaped as they went tumbling to the ground, tripped by some unknown plant.
The Kitsune whipped around at the sound, catching sight of the hatchling on the ground and the looming form of a monster just behind them, both in the air and on the ground.
In a split second decision, he charged back to the hatchling, picking them up and tossing them behind him. "Run!"
He braced himself for the oncoming monster. Part of it, almost a shadow, was storming across the ground and the rest was in the air, both equally silent.
If he could distract it, then the hatchling would have a better chance of getting away...
