Southern Garter Noodles/Spirals
The Southern Garter Spirals(SGS) or Southern Garter Noodles(SGN) as they will sometimes be referred to, has always been an idea in my head since a little after i joined FR back in February. My top favorite dragons were well, all the dragons. But the one that usually struck me the most even thought i don't own a lot, were the Spirals. Because they looked so snake like and i love snakes.
Then i saw the Zephry Dancers from a friend on another website and how they were a Subspecies. I was hooked. I wanted a subspecies too because that looked fun and all. So i spent my six months silently planning and plotting and procrastinating on creating these little guys. The SGN's. I always knew i wanted to base them off a real live snake and i'd at times spend time scrying different looks and all. Iri/shim/und black-obsi/black-obsi/blackobsi for a Black Mamba and so on and so forth.
Then one day, when the contour gene came out, i was playing with the scry will babysitting a friends Gopher snake, and i found it. The perfect snake i could create. The California Red Sided Garter Snake, which has a lot of its own subspecies, and the one that matched the most, i discovered, was endangered. And i thought, why not do a double whammy? Spread the word out to people across the globe to try and help conserve this snake species AND create a subspecies? And thus, they were born! After that day, i saved up plenty of money and all to brew and buy the needed genes and dragons as well as plot their stories. So without further adue, i hope you enjoy.

9/22/16 - time unknown - A new discovery! Small clan of garter noodles was found in the Gladeveins and shrieking wilds!
10/14/16 @ 9:50 Garter noodles officially stop breeding tell summer time.

Once upon a time, it use to be that the Mire was unlivable for dragon kind. During this time, there was a heavy rumor going about that somehow something that was not of beastclan did thrive in the Mire, but whenever someone tried describing it, it was brushed off or thought to of been a Wartoad. It has only been recently that the rumors that it is an actual [i][b]dragon[/i][/b] living in the Mire have been confirmed. But its not just [i][b]A[/b][/i] dragon, it’s a whole [i][b]family[/i][/b] of dragons. This caused the efforts to try and overtake and colonize the Mire to double time.
At the time, they were actually pretty plentiful, seeming to share characteristics to a native snake species in the Mire. However, with the constant exploration and rare expansion into the Mire, these spirals where forced to flee and some were even forced to change genes or breeds even and such to adapt to life outside the Mire. So it is very rare to see these spirals in the mire now, however, they have been seen in other areas as well besides the Mire.
Their name comes from the fact that they were discovered at the southernmost end of the Mire as well as they’re coloring. Arcane researchers have determined their specific coloring and genes so to try and help these spirals live and thrive by having other dragons with these colors or genes so to help them feel “normal” and “at home”.
However most Spirals state this species is anything but normal due to how these spirals actually prefer not to fly and instead tend to stay near water sources to swim instead. They are also highly active during the day time instead of night like other spirals and have developed a way to spray some sort of chemical musk at opponents if they cannot escape via water.
They tend to be very shy spirals, sleeping in high branches and acting different to other spirals, thus are not actively accepted as "normal" spirals. However, these spirals can also seem sociable at times too once they've gotten to know others and often times their first friends are mirrors surprisingly due to the way these spirals hunt and defend themselves as it interests mirrors. The second dragon they make friends fast with are nocturnes obviously due to their copycat like natures, however, other spirals don't often become friends with these ones.
