Meet Slick...
...and Nisha!
Slicker
Slick was one of the first dragons I received from my flight, and I immediatly thought of oil when I saw him. I didn't actively search, but I found his girl Nisha by chance as somebody searched a new home for her. I knew they were made for each other, he fire, she ice. I haven't worked out their bios so far but as soon as I have more time, I will add to that aswell. My dear friend Irrwahn, who is also breeding many gorgeous dragons in her hatchery, suggested to make them a subspecies and together we came up with the idea for their lore and background. We hope you enjoy them like we do!

Lore
It is common knowledge that Coatl with a low saturated plumage are considered as bad omen. The traditional Coatl nests have to produce colourful offspring to be acceptable. For all those whose appearance doesn't follow the scheme, well, they have to be creative. But what really happens to those often abandoned dragons, left alone without anyone to care for them? There are the Exiles, sure, but there are some who chose a different lifestyle. You are about to hear their story!
Slicker is what they call themselves: Entirely peaceful and social beings, who comfort each other in their struggles to be a part of their breeds culture. More and more cast-outs needed to find shelter and purpose back in the days. Muttering discontent, they started to gather ideas how they could not only reclaim their status, but also enhance it. They wanted to be the shiniest Coatls in the whole Ashfall Waste! Their ingenious behaviour led to something that would make them unique: spilling oil all over themselves to create the dark, soft gleaming effect they are best known for. This practice gave them hope again and they started to go to the surface more often, presenting their plumage proud instead of hiding all the time. At first, other Coatls were irritated by the newcomers they couldn't recognize anymore. Soon their reputation grew, not least because they sometimes use their magic set the oil on fire – which results in a wonderfully bright and colourful sparkling light all over them – just to steal everyone the show.
Even if Slicker are still misfits, outlawed by the majority of their breed, there are already a few of them setting out to new territories to tell their story, if somebody is willing to listen and comprehend what they have to tell.
Older adults have set themselves to pick up all unwanted hatchlings that seek social appreciation and decide against the life of an Exile. Each of them trains one or more hatchlings about the elaborate Slicker-techniques.
Slickers mainly live in the Emberglow Hearth and work as jewellers and goldsmiths.
They believe the Flamecaller herself gifted them with extraordinary accurate fire magic abilities, to compensate their unwanted appearance. They don't have any dislikes regarding familiars, but they prefer colorful creatures, which don't mind hot temperatures and to be near open fire.
Slickers are only born and bred in the fire territory, and almost everyone who leaves the Ashfall Waste will carry a Firebrand Tungsten to remind themselves where they come from.
