Breed changes are canonical in my lore, but there's absolutely no detail included as to how they work. All the stories simply note that So-and-so used to be a Mirror and is now a Gaoler, or whatnot.
I don't have any Aberrations, so I don't need to worry about that aspect. Though I might fuse two dragons together in lore some time.... I'll have to think about it.

It's all magic [emoji=coatl happy size=1]
For my lore I don't use "breed change scrolls," but say alchemists have the knowledge to create a potion to change a dragon, and there's also magic rituals one could do to change their breed.
But you can write whatever you want for any dragon. I have an abby that I made when they first released, and his lore is that he was a Sandsurge scientist who was thrown into the wyrmwound and left for dead. (Sandsurges hadn't been released yet, so I just left the specific breed out of his lore.) His second head grew from his mutation and just developed its own sense of self. But you could just as easily decide they were the same and became duplicated, one mind split in half, two dragons fused together, or whatever you want.
