from the moment they released I've thought they looked "cute but in a way that's also slightly off and unsettling" and their expressions in their adult poses look like they want to bite someone (f) or are smugly planning something (m) so every time I see them mentioned as the Just Cute Ones I think but they're evil.......scheming beasts.......big eyed beguilers........

edit btw for what it's worth this is also why they're my fav ancient lol

As an Aether yes I will bite you

Hah I know what you mean. Half of my aether scrys have dark sclera because it just brings out that slightly unnerving aspect of them. Add carnivore in the mix and it's a real spooky little guy.

ive never actually thought of aethers as a cutesy breed, I mean...more like, aliens from a cartoon? maybe that description is in fact Cutesy but I usually think of that as Designed To Look Very Cute and theyre too weird for me to see them that way. their faces are too flat. ive seen tamarins and spider monkeys be little biting jumping horrors and that is the EXACT vibe I get from the f aether pose she is NOT looking at me with kind intentions

the male pose I do think is pretty cute but thats also I think bc to me it looks Intensely like faerie neopets and that association is rooted in the deepest parts of my brain

edit: oh I forgot to mention the hatchling pose, they look like gremlins. like from the movie Gremlins I do not trust them

male pose is sweet cute, female... not so. toothy grin, has real "i will bite you". for me they are kinda too cute so yea, they kinda evil

I think the angle of the females' heads really make them look aggressive, yeah. Not so the other poses, though.

Aether F do have that 'i'mma bite you' energy... kinda like some snakes that open their mouths as a threat display sort of thing
