I don't think there's an official explanation for them, but my personal headcannon is it's kind of like Land Before Time. They just got lost and were found while our dragons were out doing errands or whatnot

Dunno about the others but for wind eggs they're eggs misplaced by the windsinger. Probably

I figure it could be all sorts of things. Eggs got lost or abandoned. Eggs got stolen. Eggs got left at the local firehouse because the dragons didn't want to be parents.
I have a couple of g1s where their backstory is that one of my dragons found a couple of abandoned eggs after a particularly wild party, so he took them home, incubated them, and adopted the hatchlings.
I figure it could be all sorts of things. Eggs got lost or abandoned. Eggs got stolen. Eggs got left at the local firehouse because the dragons didn't want to be parents.

The Coliseum venues are various areas around Sornieth filled with hostile entities ready to attack you at a moment's notice. I imagine that the unhatched eggs found in the Coli are the offspring of parents who were caught off guard and weren't as prepared for battle as your Coliseum team...
It's a dark implication, but a fitting one as well! Makes for some great lore.
