Another Obelisk, Sedona frowned as she stared down at the darkscale dragon. At first she thought his ruby red markings were injuries, her daughter beginning to tend to them when his eyes opened. Sedona found herself thinking of the other Obelisk that had come to lay with her. His son defended the territory with honor, brute strength and loyalty she would never find anywhere else. Maybe this wasn't so bad, after all.
Once he was able to walk and talk and explain himself, Garvan had admitted that he himself was an offspring of another's quote unquote challenge. "My mother loved us all, and I never asked her why she did what she did." He told Sedona with a small smile, sharing dinner together while her grown children did whatever it was they did when their mother had a suitor. Sedona shrugged a big shoulder. "I do it because I can. I do it to prove that I don't need to produce 'perfection'."
Garvan nodded. "I'd like to help you on that quest, then. Maybe it'll bring peace to both of our parents."
Sedona didn't understand how that would happen, but when she looked down at their nest of three eggs a few days later, she was beginning to think she could understand.

Blackmoon hadn't arrived so much as he had ... created an awful racket, scared away the herd of unsuspecting podids, and nearly shattered his pearl. Sedona wasn't sure what was bringing these males to her grounds, having not once but twice tell her remaining children to back off. Blackmoon hung around for a few days, dawdling and humming and offering points of expansion for the lair. Sedona took his words with little interest.
It wasn't until the nest of three eggs did she realize that having Blackmoon around was a little more fun than she was letting on, and knowing he would leave soon was beginning to make her resent his arrival altogether.
Her daughter Nightshade took care of the eggs one day while Sedona and Blackmoon took a walk. It was during this walk that Sedona admitted that while she loved her children, she was worried about setting a bad example. That using spite and anger as weapons was wrong. "It is wrong," Blackmoon said rather plainly. "But there's more to the story than just spite. There's more to it than just anger, and we know that- your children to know that, too."
As the eggs hatched, and three dark-headed Guardians popped out, Sedona was sad to know that their father had left the night before, citing the need for adventure, that he had never been one to stay in one place. Sedona cleaned her children and ushered them from the hatching ground and into the den, refusing to shed light on the heaviness that was beginning to settle against her wings at the thought of another clutch of eggs without a father.
