TOPIC | How do you decide who to scatter?
I'm following a few scatter journeys and feeling the itch to start my own, but how on Sorienth do you decide who to scatter?

Do you use special date hatches? ID numbers? Progen vs non-progen? Lore or luls?

I'm torn between my random progen, a unique ID (who is already a rare color combo), or a dragon that would make good lore reasonings.

EDIT - Thank you all who have responded! The general consensus appears to be that sentimental value is incredibly important, and then "rareness" of the dragon ie progens, G2 Imps, special IDs/dates. I think I might be leaning towards scattering my random progen, which seems to be a popular decision as others have done so with good results.

Generally based on id number (low or interesting ids) but if I adopt a lv25 or g2 Imp with poor colors I will scatter it as well

My scatter projects are always gen one fandragons or dragons I hatched for special, sentimental reasons.

My on-going scatter project is 8 years old (will be 9 this year). She's a fandragon hatched on her birthday, her ID is quite unique in my opinion, she's a gen one, and her size is glitched for a Nocturne! She's incredibly sentimental to me, and I would never think about selling her, even if she ends up scattering into XXX obsidian.

I've only been on a handful of scatter journeys.

I scattered my custom progen and his original mate - my progen because I'd fallen out of love with him and his mate because she was picked to match my progen, so her colors weren't great.

I scattered a small number of old sentimental permas who have all been kicking around for 8+ years in my lair, but who I didn't love anymore for one reason or another. I'd acquired most of them back before I had a good grasp of the color wheel and before I started paying closer attention to terts - a lot of dragons that I flubbed in that way were salvagable still, but for those who weren't, they got scattered.

...After two of the above old permas had unexpectedly short journeys (one scatter each) after I'd already bought a bunch of scrolls, I put the extras onto a birthday hatch to see if I could salvage it.

As for the long 100+ scroll journeys I see some dragons going on? I honestly can't imagine doing that myself. I like fun xyz combos, so I've never even broken into double digits for a single dragon. It just doesn't take me that long to hit something I like and want to work with.

The Snapper is swinging a pickaxe while the other two dragons follow. I've personally only scattered g1s that I'm attached to but have terrible colours

Most of the combos I have are currently workable, but not like, enjoyably so, if that makes sense? Like, for example, my random progen: She was technically one-off XYY a long, long time ago, and after the colorwheel update she's now 5-off. Workable? Yes. BUT. I hate Fire. It's one of my least favorite colors on the site, and yet it has blue accents... I've personally scattered one dragon, and that's a progen kid.

g1s are popular for scatter projects, but speaking personally, I don't have any attachment to a random g1 and would rather just get a different one if I don't like the colors. I'm not big into special IDs or special date dragons. I picked a progen kid because my progens have a small primary range and I wanted something outside that range, and the only way for that is a scatter.

I'd also consider it "worth it" on a dragon that's sentimental/lore-important to me personally (like a dragon I got early into my FR journey) but I no longer vibe with their colors.

Out of the ones you suggested, the random progen would be my top pick...although scattering someone specifically for lore is a neat idea I hadn't considered, and could definitely be fun.

i've only scattered one dragon so far, but for me it has to be a dragon that is irreplaceable in some way. like a special id number (the dragon i scattered fit this criteria), a special hatch date (like an eclipse or some other one off event), if i ever get my hands on a g2 imp or a glitched dragon...

i think doing scatters as part of lore is a pretty neat idea, though, and if i had the spare dragon bucks i'd probably steal that lol. so i'd go with any of your options!

I am hecka ADHD so I scatter whoever.
My priorities tho are usually on my hatchery dragons, and then project dergs in my hibernation den, followed by the showcase dragons. :3
