I think these are some good points! I understand the disappointment, but the fact that it'll take a while for the prices to drop is also a way to give players an incentive and a commitment to dedicate themselves to. If you manage to save up for a scroll without spending any real money — that's an achievement that'll feel amazing and honestly something you should get to be proud of :D

The backlash that the next modern breed that is a gem gene is going to be INSANE...

It is disappointing not to immediately get the new dragon breed especially if you really wanted it, which is a totally valid reaction. It can be frustrating to see a label of 1000g when you don't really earn a lot of treasure on site. However, we have seen time and time again that new dragon breeds will be bred and eventually reach a much more fodder level price point, most of the time within the first month. It can be hard waiting, but this is not a new thing, and getting the newest breed doesn't technically affect any playstyles since there really isn't any set play style that makes the game better or worse. I think the point of this being the first gem Gene in three years is key-a lot of people haven't seen a gem exclusive breed and are surprised at the relatively high price point as a result. As with all things, this will probably blow over in a handful of weeks, and we'll do it all again the next time.

i think a lot of people playing the site are not used to how pet sites/pet games operate because they're meant to be played at a slow pace. the coli is a money printer but large amounts of the site still operate on a once a day or even a once a month timeframe, and obviously the human body can only handle so much coli grinding so there is a cap on that technically as well. im not going to pretend i remember well how the veil release went but i don't remember this kind of response, i wonder what made this different?

Yeah honestly, it bugs me a little people are so incredibly angry that it got the main thread locked.
I understand though this is a site with a lot of younger players, maybe some who weren't playing when Veilspun released, and so it might feel like a bigger deal to them than it really is. They can't very easily buy currency, and maybe don't quite get the market yet to be able to profit properly from it. They're used to getting a breed scroll for release in the time they've played. So I'm tryna keep that in mind when I see people getting upset.
Full grown adults who know how having a job and a business works though should maybe understand that being disappointed and upset doesn't make the FR staff evil for wanting to make money. You're entitled to feel upset, absolutely. 100%. You can't control how you feel sometimes, and it can feel like a big hurdle to get the gems for these breeds when you want them, this is all true. But you can control what you say and do on the forums.

I 100% agree with you. I was mildly disappointed of no breed change or egg when veils released(not enough to audibly complain, to my memory) but i learned from it and knew the same deal was going to happen with Sandsurges as soon as i learned they were gem breed... which was weeks ago(i think?), when the streams happened.

I love free stuff as much as anyone, but it's good to remember that you are not owed anything by people who make and run the game. they do this as a full-time job, deserve to get a living wage, and a pet site like flight rising only has so many ways to earn income. Premium currency is one of the main ways.

It's understandable to be disappointed, of course, but there's a difference between being disappointed and acting like this is some sort of grand betrayal, which is what some things i've seen kinda feel like they're saying.

@MidnightWatcher i can see how that might've slipped through the cracks because the veilspun release had already happened and there was a model for how gem ancients would be released from then on, plenty of new users have joined or were simply not around for their release so they would be less aware. im a little lost on why we would get scrolls or eggs though even despite getting them for the treasure releases and undertides, a g1 i would need to slap onto the ah for 10g because its bad colors or a free 1kg because i would sell the scroll to someone else both sound like really bad ideas (though that's obviously coming from my pov).

as a new (kinda? ~2 years) player who hasn't been there for the release of veilspuns, i just assumed there would be an egg or a scroll based on the ancient dragon releases i've seen; i know now there's a precedent, but i didn't until i looked it up after seeing the post. and what i think is happening is there are a lot of new players like me who had no experience with gem breeds being released, and they expected the scroll or an egg as well. there were three new ancient breeds almost back to back that set a pattern.

i don't mind it being the way it is and i will not lose sleep over it, but i think people who are upset were just suprised and haven't had time to farm for gems/accept that as what it is. i am not condoning the angry comments and arguing, just trying to find an explanation for this overwhelming response.
