The compaint about "ancient gene bloat" as far as I understand it, is that the treasure marketplace is drowning in ancient genes, because each gene for ancients is specific to whichever dragon breeds can access it. like gaolers and sandsurges both have mosaic and breakup. so that's two different items for one gene: primary gene mosaic (sandsurge), and primary gene mosaic (gaoler). modern dragons also access to mosaic and breakup, so now you're at three items per gene. it makes the marketplace really cluttered, and it's only getting worse as we get more and more ancient breeds.

i think the issue is that it's hard and confusing to find certain gene change items on the auction house because the modern breed version and each ancient breed version is named so similarly.

I love them. But man does Sailfin and Marlin confuse me... Why do some spot colors match like Phthalo and others the primary is just completely different like Saffron? They are my favorite gene for them, but should I be waiting to use the gene in case there is a change? I don't know if the inconsistency is purposeful.

It looks like the paired genes have the colors inverted from one another! Also, in the gene correction thread they have "Marlin having an extra color not present in sailfish is intended."

Great new breed. But when are we getting another new Modern breed? I'm also with the masses on this one, you might need to drop the whole "no egg or scroll on release" thing when releasing new Gem breeds. One free G1 to the userbase isn't going to hurt your site's income, methinks, considering I've scrolled through and seen that several people have already purchased multiple scrolls.

For perspective, I've been here since 2019 and Obelisks are the only modern breed to come out during that time. The workload is incredibly higher due to the amount of apparel for moderns, aside from importing and adapting all the genes (x3 for all poses) which is very understandable imo.
Personally I even think these ancient drops are a little too frequent. I would almost prefer a bit of a quiet period to allow artists to focus on a new potential modern.
