Through the window, the wind was howling along with the cries of wolves. Eira sat by the warm fireplace, surrounded by hatchlings. “Do you hear?” she asked in a hushed tone. “That’s the sound of Timber Wolves. Only the largest and most vicious come out at this time of year, cold as it is.” She paused as a close howl caught her off guard. “But those rascals won’t come near here, because they can’t get through our strong walls.” Eira stared each hatchling in the eyes, memories flashing past her eyes. “Whatever you do, do not be caught outside when the Timber Wolves howl. They can easily overpower even us when these wolves are out,” she nodded at her own grave advice. If only she and her sister Aurora had followed it all those years ago. “Now, that’s enough of that. Who wants to come into the kitchen and make hot chocolate and cookies? Tonight is Christmas Eve after all.”

Eira is a wise, calm and stubborn dragon, who loves to take care of hatchlings. Though she’s intense and can scare them at first glance, once she treats them to her special gingerbread, there is no going back. When

dragons meet her, they don’t realize she would be one to have a wild past, but Eira used to be rambunctious and carefree, getting into scrapes often with her sister. Her advice and wisdom did not come free, but from years of experience and failures at her expense. At one point in her life, she was broken and hopeless, but managed to pull through and learn from her mistakes.
