Thoughtful | Inquisitive | Compassionate

Patriarch, Progenitor of his Clan

Tu'uq'a wandered the Sunbeam Ruins alone for some time, unable to locate his Tundra family after separating from them while gathering roughage for the larder. In the often-confusing Hewn City, where his clan resided, the mists and strangely shifting landscape can best even a Tundra's sharp sense of smell. Without a clan, he was unsure if he would survive, as the City could be dangerous to a lone dragon. He departed for sunnier, safer pastures, choosing the seaside, with its rugged cliffs covered in hardy blooms and kelp beneath the water.

When Khaz appeared in his stretch of coastline, he was puzzled by but accepting of her immediate attachment to him. He does not understand the mechanism of it, but in the way of Tundras, he does not question. She smelled appealing, and while she was a meat-eater, her breath did not carry the typical predator rot, so he deemed her brusque and suspicious manner acceptable. After all, it was not directed at him.

Khaz was the beginning of Tu'uq'a's new family. Soon after their meeting on the cliffs, they bonded as mates, and laid their first nest together on the Sundial Terrace.

Tu'uq'a is second only to his mate and clan leader, and he acts as the voice of compassion and gentle wisdom beside her. He treats his charges, the clan's familiars, the same way he treats his fellow dragons. His endless patience is invaluable to bonding with his beasts, and even the toughest, most resistant of monsters who come into his care eventually place their trust in him. His current familiar, a once-volatile, wild Disoriented Spirit, now guards him faithfully in his duties when it once lashed out at him and other dragons. He knows each individual beast in the clan by scent, and can identify the scent of wild beasts with precision.

By far not the brightest, he is still a thoughtful dragon with experience to spare. Clan members who don't overlook him discover he can provide a wealth of sound advice, something his mate has known and relied upon for years. Even if it takes him days to think of a response to a dragon's question, he will respond.

His softness, in both appearance and behavior, disguise a warrior's soul. He simplistically divides others into categories of "those I trust" and "those who have hurt me and mine," and he takes ruthless, unforgiving action against any in the latter group. The only things he cleaves to as persistently as his love for his family are his grudges. Trespassers and thieves who attacked their territory have borne the scars of his fangs for the rest of their lives, and the mere scent of those enemies has set his mane bristling years after their transgressions.

Everywhere he goes, he wears his satchels. He is never sure if he's forgotten some important detail, or what he might need for a given activity, so he keeps them packed with a variety of items that would look like nonsense to another dragon. However, he swears by his system. More than once, he's saved the day with a bit of jerky, some string, a strip of linen, or a honeycomb sweet he kept squirreled away in his satchels.
