Matriarch, Progenitor of her Clan

Khaz began her Search as a bright-eyed, determined hatchling, confident that she would discover her Charge and soon settle into a powerful clan who respected her fighting skills and prowess as a Guardian. However, as the years passed and her Charge was not forthcoming, she began to lose hope. Her Search took her far from home, to strange and unfamiliar lands, but she did not fear the unknown. Rather, she feared returning to her clan in shame, without a Charge, only half a dragon.

She took refuge on the cliffs of the Sunbeam Ruins, bitter and lonely, eking out a living on the rodents that burrowed into the earth and the starfish clinging to the stone at the water's edge. It was in this place that she met the Tundra who saved her. He was also gathering alone, plucking the tufts of tall grass and wildflowers from between the rocks. She was wary of his approach, for she wished none to see her shame. The moment she met his warm, golden eyes, soft and clear the way the eyes of Tundras often are, she knew this was why she had come to this place. Tu'uq'a, he called himself. When he left the cliffs that day, she followed, and they have not left one another's sides since.

With the Lightweaver's permission, they claimed a small den among the ruins and made it their home. Khaz would have been pleased to simply live there with her Charge and mate, but she soon discovered he had a habit of picking up... strays. Anyone who smelled nice to him was a new friend, and if they were out on their own, he offered their lair space to the strangers. First it was a pair of travel-weary Snappers who needed a comfortable resting place, then a somewhat shady Skydancer with an attitude problem. Soon, Khaz was forced to both ask their deity's permission to expand before their cramped lair collapsed on top of them, and to curb her mate's overly welcoming behavior.

With such a rapidly growing clan under her roof, Khaz cracked down. Her lair, her rules, and it's her way or the skyway. All of the companions in her lair, be they permanent residents or just passing through, answer to her. She considers herself harsh, but fair. After all, if her clanmates are behaving poorly, it reflects back on her as their leader. No one respects a leader with a spoiling larder and rodents in the nests. If she's too rough on the inmates, well, that's what Tu'uq'a is for. He's the soft cuddly one, after all. He can sort out the ruffled scales once she's through with the rulebreakers.
