C E R N U N N O S
Leader of the Sylvan Order

Steely | Unyielding | Passionate

Treading the paths of the Labyrinth few do, it is a life of challenge, of survival that this old, grizzled dragon leads. Craving a true challenge, he turned his back on the life of luxury that his fellow Sages built around themselves within the Sylvanwood Palace declaring it a betrayal to their very own culture and heritage and instead took to the untamed and unruly wilds of the jungle. With little else to his name aside from his passion and his own wits, Cernunnos has turned survival into an art form, as those of his kind are want to do. He follows those tenets of his flight that have since been left behind in this new era of comfort and ease. To Cernunnos this is the purest form of honoring his flight and deity, forging only the hardiest survivors and defenders for a jungle that used to be far harsher before it was settled, before it was tamed. As a loyal nature flight traditionalist, there is very little he is incapable of under the canopy of the whispering trees. He uses only what is at his disposal in the wild and sleeps under the boughs of the trees, never once in his life glimpsing the sky above the canopy. He is distant and steely having been battered against from every angle until all that's left is hard edges and an indomitable spirit.

With such fierce determination and burning spirit he has attracted others to his way of life, creating an order of the highest caliber, The Sylvan Order as they're called. Those who have managed to thrive with Cernunnos in the Order are as tough and grizzled as the old leader himself, creating a fierce band of rugged survivors who share an unbreakable loyalty to one another out of necessity rather than choice. A hard, uncompromising teacher and leader, Cernunnos demands the very best from each of his followers because anything less will see their end. His Order lives beyond the clans' borders and without any assistance of any kind, no food, no supplies, yet they always return to touch base and remind both themselves and the clan that they still have ties to their roots, however far those roots may spread. They scout the Labyrinth with ease, rarely ever seen or heard by a soul, and live off the land as Cernunnos believes was always the intention of the Gladekeeper.

“Who goes there?!” A low voice suddenly barked from the trees and underbrush, catching the old abberation off-guard.

Both of Cernunnos' heads swiveled around looking for the source, tense and ready for a possible altercation, but relaxed the very next second when he found a familiar face in a thick patch of jungle just to his left. When recognition also passed over the shaggy gaelor he casually sat back on his haunches, his expression turning from confrontational to neutral in a split second.

“Ah, Enkidu.” Cernunnos greeted calmly, his voice always gruff despite any (occasional) efforts to be otherwise.

The gaelor dipped his head in greeting, his unkempt mane shifting with the movement. “Cernunnos. I should have known it was you, the only other dragons to find themselves out this far are the lost.” He pauses a moment, his head tilting in careful consideration, his eyes now completely obscured by his mane, “Although... you usually don't stray this close to our territory.” He reasoned with nothing but curiosity.

One of Cernunnos' heads nodded in agreement. The two ancients were both quite wild in nature and as a result lived very similar lives, it wasn't unusual for their paths to cross. Yet the old aberration still left Enkidu his privacy and didn't often wander into his section of the jungle, he held the gaelor in too high esteem to intentionally breech any boundaries.

“A clan has recently moved into the nearby area,” One head spoke as the grizzled dragon made a motion behind him, “So we're relocating to a more... 'wild' wilderness.” The other head finished.

Enkidu shifted uncomfortably as he took a wary glance in the direction Cernunnos had indicated. The aberration instantly understood this change in his demeanor, “No need for you to worry, they're still a ways off from you and your dryads and theirs is a small family. I doubt you'll have any trouble.”

Again the fur-laden dragon relaxed and turned back towards his guest, “So you're off to the other side of Gladewalker territory then?”

Cernunnos gave a single nod of confirmation from both heads.

Suddenly the younger dragon flashed a wry smirk, “I know I needn't warn you and yours, but all the same, be careful around those parts, I hear there's an unruly Goldenbeast who likes to rampage through that section of the jungle.”

Cernunnos smiled back revealing both sets of sharp teeth, anticipation glimmering in all five of his eyes, “Then it's to be a real challenge, just as we like.”

“Gladekeeper keep you then.” Enkidu offered with a spark of appreciation in his gaze.

Just as Cernunnos turned to take his leave one of his heads turned to look back over his shoulder, “You know, one day you'll realize the Sylvan Order is as much meant for you as you are for it.”

A soft, rolling chuckle spilled out of Enkidu, “Perhaps, Sage, but I will always belong to the beastclans first, and there's little that can change that.”

The older dragon shrugged in surrender, a disappointed look shadowing his features, “So be it, but there will always be a place for you should you change your mind.” He paused then and his expression turned more sincere and earnest as the other head softly added, “Though even if you do not, The Order will always watch over you as if you were one of our own.”
