The Wild Sanctum, a home of discovery in the Viridian Labyrinth. The magic that flowed through the roots of the territory had struck intrigue for dragon-kind. Those who had desired further knowledge of the Nature magic used to flock to the ancient apparatus. The Sanctum, constructed upon the land to serve a particular purpose, gradually fell into disuse as time marched forward. The magic's energy patterns remained largely unchanged, and as new phenomena emerged elsewhere in Sornieth, those in search of knowledge began to abandon the revered site.
The once lively halls of the Sanctum now lay deserted. Vines and weeds crept over the untrodden stone, embracing the forgotten structure. Ancient equipment, once used to measure the Viridian Labyrinth's magical properties, now sat neglected in lonely corners. Books chronicling events from centuries past to the present lay scattered across the library floors. This once-revered place, dedicated to scientific progress, now stood as a mere shadow of its former glory.
A Fae, driven more by curiosity than caution, clambered his way through a shattered window. He wrinkled his snout in distaste, the musty air mingling with the faint, acrid smell of decay. Despite the discomfort, his eagerness to uncover secrets of the Wild Sanctum propelled him forward.
Strands of cobwebs stretched between the towering pillars, glistening like strands of saliva in the dim light. The stone floor was a testament to the passage of time, littered with talon marks left by defunct clans. To him, the sacred building appeared frozen in time, with remnants of ancient scholars' presence still lingering.
Conifer scoured the twisting halls of the Wild Sanctum for any other individuals. The Fae let his search bring him to the largest library in the center of the abandoned establishment. A large stone sign before the entrance bore the engraved words “Verdant Archive.” Spirals of impressive shelves lined the vast room, their beams sagging under the weight of dusty tomes and scrolls. Sunlight filtered through the stained glass windows, casting a kaleidoscope of colors onto the intricate engravings of The Gladekeeper.
Defeated, Conifer perched himself atop the surviving shelves and sighed. He picked up a half-deteriorated book, its cover barely clinging to the spine. As he flipped through the fragile pages, his frown deepened at the sight of water-stained remnants. Once, these had held profound knowledge; now, they were just ghostly echoes of the past.
Conifer closed his eyes, feeling the weight of centuries past pressing upon his mind. Uncovering the writings of ancient scholars brought him both joy and sorrow. Joy in the discovery, but sorrow knowing that the once-revered Wild Sanctum was now overlooked by dragon-kind. After a day's worth of rummaging through the massive structure, he found nothing indicating that clans remained. With a heavy heart, he accepted that the Sanctum's legacy was forever lost to time. His dream of finding a clan dedicated to preserving the knowledge within the Wild Sanctum was shattered.
That was until the booming voice of a dragon carried through the archive.
