In the beginning Bright return was a devout following of the god of Light and Creation, Ardorus. As per their doctrine, the religeous sect was devoted to bettering the world for future generations. They would take in those society had abandoned—petty criminals, vagrants, orphans, etc.— and give them a home and purpose in the organization.
Over the last few centuries, however, leadership has changed, and the keeper in charge has brought his own prejudice. The new leadership favors keepers, dragonkin, and those born with a high aptitude for mystic magic, leaving those who do not fall under these three criteria to work much harder to prove their worth in the clan.
In recent years, Bright Return has slightly pivoted, seeking to bridge the gap between the "superior species" and the rest, they started performing species-altering experiments on their members. While the creation of artificial dragonkin has yet been unsuccessful, they have found limited progress in making false keepers!
While the end may not justify the means to outsiders, most of the members of Bright Return owe their lives to the cult and willingly participate in these experiments.
