ReedRose's Clan

Within the Sunbeam Ruins, many clans of dragons make their home. Here, nestled between the trees and ancient pillars, one such clan has settled. Unassuming at first, the humble clearing, speckled with sunbathing dragons and lined with hedges and low walls made of fallen logs, is merely the entrance to a far bigger space below ground.

The lair of this clan is made up of tunnels and caverns, some natural, others excavated, carved throughout the cliffs. The tunnels provide shade on hot days, and accommodate the dragons with thick coats of fur or those more sensitive to light and heat. Windows poke out from the cliffside facing the Gladekeeper’s domain, where dragons gather and lounge in the underground common space. In the higher tunnels, skylights are nestled between rocks for natural lighting, and the lower tunnels are illuminated with glass lanterns. The foot of the cliff features a natural cave, perfect for relaxing on a shaded beach or for hatchlings learning how to swim, it has also been extended to bring water and water-dwelling dragons into the main den. Above ground, shallow nests are dug into the ground or hills, where families will have their eggs.

A large number of the clan’s residents are scholars or researchers, as is typical in the Sunbeam Ruins, but the inhabitants of the clan are of diverse and varied backgrounds, often having traveled long distances looking for a safe place to call home. A communally-led clan, dragons of all backgrounds, flights, and occupations are welcome to call this clan home, even if only temporarily. Even that scientist was welcomed to stay, as strange as he may act…
