Tempest Clan



You wander, alone, in the stormy desert of the Shifting Expanse. Lightning crackles in the air, striking the giant spires of the Lightning Farm, powering whatever machines lie beneath. You can already hear the Stormcatcher yelling instructions to his workers, the Sparks, who are probably scurrying about, working in tech-filled areas.

A rustle, behind you. You hear a curse. Looking up into the sky, you see nothing. No, it's coming from behind. Turning around, you're not surprised to see a dragon darting behind a pillar. There are many Lightning Clans situated here, in the Lightning Farm.

Seeing that you have already noticed her, the dragon reveals herself, stepping out from behind the gray stone pillar. She murmurs something about camouflaging herself better. It's a Nocturne, whose horns are a deep blue, and her body nearly black. Her underbelly is the same colour as her horns, and glimmers like someone has poured glitter on it. Her wings are a deep purple with specks of blue, and is the same pattern as that of a butterfly. Stars stretch across the right wing and curve across her body, originating at a strange jar held in her hands filled with a dark purple liquid speckled with yellow dots. A bangle with a star on it hangs around her right leg.

She sighs, and curses. "Knew I shouldn't have gone out in broad daylight. Runner always tells me to go out at night with Vio, but I never knew this would happen..." She pauses. "Anyways. Now that you've seen me, I should take you to see the queen. A bit of trespassing you're doing here."
And despite your protests, she ushers you calmly across the clan. You pass by a bunch of houses, and a couple dragons stop to stare at you, not recognising you as one of their own.

"Twilight..." A Skydancer walks up to the two of you, sighing. "You know you shouldn't go out in the middle of the day. Those things are for Sandstorm to handle."

"I know, Vio..." the Nocturne groans. "Runner's gonna lecture me about it, isn't he?"

"He doesn't know," says the Skydancer, a grin appearing on her face. "Guess what, I'll tell him I was out instead, is that okay with you?"

The Nocturne - Twilight - smiles, a grin to match that of the Skydancer, Vio. "Thanks. Seriously, how did I get out of trouble without ya?"

Vio grins. "Simple. You didn't."

Twilight grins even wider and walks away. "See ya, Vi! I'll get you back later!"

"We'll see if you can," Vio laughs.

As the Skydancer walks away, Twilight brings you in front of a large building with a flag above.





"That's our clan's flag," Twilight explains. "We're not the best artists, but Jewel tried his best."

She takes you into the building. Inside, the ground is stone, with a red carpet stretching through the hallway. It opens up into a large room with 2 thrones at the end, one purple, one ice blue. Sitting on the two thrones are two Skydancers, one female, one male. The female one has purple wings and a white body, with grey runes on her face, waist and limbs. The other one has a body like crystal. It's an icy blue colour, and is the same colour as the actual crystals scattered around his wings, chest and tail.

Twilight bows. "My-my queen, my king, I have found a trespasser."
The female one speaks first. "Thank you, Twilight." Then her attention turns to you. She considers you for a while, as does the male.

"I am Amethyst, the queen of the Tempest Clan. And Diamond," she gestures to the male beside her, who nods his head in acknowledgement, "Diamond is my mate, and the king of the Clan. May I ask what you have come to this area for?"

Stuttering, you explain that you were just wandering around when you saw Twilight, and she decided to bring you here.

"I'm sure you didn't realise it, but unfortunately you were trespassing in our Clan," the Queen explains, and the King nods. She hesitates, considering her next sentence. Probably whether you will be punished or not. Then the King whispers in her ear, like he's done this before, and Queen Amethyst straightens up, looking more confident.

"Since this is all an accident," she announces, "that you wandered into our clan, the King and I have decided to let you go. And we will better define the borders of our Clan from now on. I apologise - since we have just expanded a day ago, we have not had time to replace the electric fences that stand at the borders of our clan. Do remember that if you wish to enter our clan you will need permission or an invitation from a dragon in our clan. Or you will need to be an ambassador from another clan, but those visits are planned. Now, would you like anything before you leave? A guest in our clan that bears no ill will should be treated well."

Shaking your head, you decline. The King nods, and the Queen smiles kindly at you. "In that case, is it alright if we escort you out of the clan?"

You nod, and Queen Amethyst instructs Twilight to bring you outside the borders. The Nocturne shrugs and begins to escort you again.

As you make your way out, you suddenly see a notice pinned to a stone pillar.


ROYAL NOTICE
Some members of the Tempest Clan have started a rebellion, aimed to overthrow the queen and king. We are currently aiming to extinguish this rebellion. We would like to repeat that the leaders are decided by voting, and new leaders will only be chosen in 2 years. If you have any information about this Rebellion, please inform the queen and king immediately.

Any members of the rebellion will not be revealed, as we would like to protect their identity and maintain confidentiality.




Twilight sees it as well. "Don't mind that," she murmurs. "Just a bunch of dragons trying to overthrow the queen. Happens in every clan." She shrugs. "They're gonna be caught soon though. The queen sent a spy into their group, and they're trying to get whatever info they can find. Thank the Eleven we have Nightshade."

Finally you reach the "border", where builders have already started making the fence that separates the clan off from the outside. Twilight looks at you. "This is where you go off, you know."

"Oh. Bye, I guess," you say as you wave goodbye and begin to walk off.

All of a sudden Twilight blurts out, "Wait, wait a sec!" You turn around to see her approaching you with a smile on her face.

"If you ever want, or feel the need to come back..." Twilight grins. "Just mention that you know me, okay? You'll be welcomed."

You smile, and nod.

"See ya."

"Bye."

You walk away into the distance. Behind you, Twilight shrugs. "I'm too soft for this job," she mutters as she flies off into the distance, the stars on her wings glowing bright.
