My subspecies, The Skyborne, is now a true wind flight subspecies! For any and all information on them, please visit my thread here if you are a Wind Flight member; The Skyborne + Variants
If you are of another Flight, I'm afraid you must wait for my Public Thread to be revealed. And that may be some time as I have two Subspecies projects to care for.
For those interested in hatchlings of any of my pairings, please either PM me or wait for my new rookery to be posted/completed.
I have written a story of an Emperor Imperial, if you want to read it, here's the link;
A Dragon By Any Other Name.
REMINDER FOR SELF; TRUE & FALSE FAMILIAR BEARS LIST
HERE
Wish list;
A shrill wind echoes as it sweeps through the plains, a lone behemoth of a tree stands atop a cliff. A entryway can be seen within the trunk of the great tree and as one enters, they can see the boughs of the tree attached to a spiral trunk and a stairway of sorts leading down into the dark underground. Little crystals seem to lit the way but the difference in light makes it harder to see at first.
Birth~
Hatching is considered one of the greatest celebrations, a new life, and a new story just waiting to be written. The whole clan will come together to celebrate the birth, often gifts are given and kites made for the younglings to keep safe. The kite would have runes painted on by the Battle-Priestess of the clan, whom is currently Anzu, she would use a feather of hers as the paintbrush to draw the beautiful runic patterns that are unique to the hatchling. The runes also spell a fortune for the child, that they may prosper in their endeavors or that the wind may lead them to great destinies.
Naming~
Naming is taken quite seriously in the clan, nobody can change their name unless they wish to forget their past and their story. Zephyr will appear after the initial celebration of hatching and inspect the child, their wings are the most important part of the inspection. When she is done inspecting, she will raise her immense wings to the sky and bellow a roar that would echo across the nearby land. After the roar ends, Zephyr will stand with one wing spread as if to catch the wind that gusts back. The wind had given Zephyr the name of the child and she would bestow said name upon the child.
Death~
Death is a sad time for the clan as they must say goodbye to their friend or loved one. But they always do it with a smile, for their story may have ended, but an end is always just a new beginning. The dragon in question is carried to the base of the tree, which the clan lives beneath, and placed so as to look like they are sleeping peacefully. They are surrounded by flowers, the belongings they were given at birth and candles that burn a sweet but solemn scent. The whole clan gathers for the night and they all sing into the darkness, one by one each dragon that had a close relationship with the deceased will blow out a candle, raise their wings to the sky and watch the smoke billow upwards before returning to singing with the rest of their clan. The songs in question that they sing are all about the dragon's life. Each song is about a time where that dragon shone or lived life to it's fullest. The songs start out about the dragon's birth and each dragon that was present at that time sings. Slowly but surely, the song would increase in number of voices and it would reach a peak where everyone is happy and reminiscing. The songs would then become melancholy if the dragon died from illness or died in battle. The songs always end with a smile on every dragon's face as their remember their friend or family member. Because the rule of the clan, is to always live life to it's fullest and never let the world bring you down. After the ceremony is over, the clan will cremate the body and blow out the final candle, release the kite to the wind so it may fly with the embers and ashes of the dragon and roar a final farewell.
If it is a hatchling that has died, then all songs are happy and the deceased is surrounded by toys and childish things. The toys are then burned with the body and the kite is adorned in pictures of their family when it is released along with the ashes and embers.
Exaltation~
Exaltation is a great honor within the clan, it's like meeting your long-lost father, whom has done nothing but support and wish for the best for you from afar, after wishing for it for so long! Zephyr and Anzu (Leader and Battle-Priestess) bless, paint and adorn the Exaltees in beautiful runic patterns and clothing before they leave for the Windsinger's domain. They are then lead to the top of the tree and the whole clan will fly with them till they reach the higher altitudes, the clan will then wish them farewell and return home. The kites that belong to the dragons whom are exalted are kept within the clan's main chamber, a constant reminder that they have arisen to the call of the Windsinger.
Hatchlings are a different matter to the clan, when Hatchlings are getting exalted, Anzu leads them once the clan roars goodbye. She carries them to the higher altitudes and lifts each one till they can fly on their own, she then kisses the tops of their heads in a motherly way and wishes them well. She will wait there for at least an hour while she watches them fly away before returning to the clan.
