I would not be happy if this got added.
Making something mundane take months and months doesn't make it feel like an accomplishment, it just makes it frustrating to wait for.
Also couldn't you just breed normal dragons and change them to this breed? Or would they not have breed changes? No support. /nm

Well you can just not breed them if you don’t want to be patient to earn things.

It's not about being "patient enough to earn things" it's about time and effort versus reward. Dragons are plentiful for a reason, even the rare ones.
We already have one dragon on the site that is "unobtainable" and the consensus on that is understanding, but there's no reason to have a breed that has extreme restrictions like your suggestion. You've basically suggested a dragon where breeding projects are decade long endeavors. That sounds like a complete nightmare, imo.
Our two rare breeds have an entire month long cool-down, and that's long enough. A dragon that could only be bred once a year would just be useless forced scarcity and if your only plus is "it's cool and it would bring a sense of accomplishment" -- I agree with the counter of that idea: "if something takes too long, the sense of accomplishment sours into frustration". If something takes too long to accomplish, people don't feel proud to do it, they'll just be glad its over.
No support. No dragons should have cooldowns longer than the rare tier, and no dragon should have restrictions on when it can be bred.
Edit: Just realized that you said that the nest took a year to incubate. Heavy no support. We only get five nests and you want one to be out of commission for an entire year?? No way.

No support- Imperials as is are a nightmare to do breeding projects for with their cooldown and regular incubation timespan. There are already projects that take years with them alone. I have seen the hell that can be Imperials firsthand, even with extreme optimization of the pairs.
Also I feel like the fact this theoretical breed takes over an entire nest for a year could be devastating- what if you want to do multiple breeding projects without renting out your own element? What if you forget to click on the nest page? What if you take a hiatus and don't want the dragons that are now stuck in your lair when you come back?

I will also say that "accomplished" wouldn't be the word to describe it even if it did have the intended effect. Dragon breeding is weight-able RNG, not a mini-game or something that requires effort, while accomplishments are things you do!
...I know that this was 100% a nitpick I just felt like I had to say it.
And, I get why you like the idea of a Truly Rare once-a-year event, I just think in practice it'd make people more upset than proud ^^'

Well you can just not breed them if you don’t want to be patient to earn things.

While I think many people nowadays want instant gratification/reward for various things that don't need it or shouldn't have it, something like this is not something I would use a patience argument against. I play multiple games that are grindy and can take a few months to get on really bad days. On the average day, it takes around a week or less. The difference is I am not locking myself in or out of something to a point of inconveniencing myself. Even when I aimed for some long-term achievement rewards in another game I play, I didn't sacrifice anything but time. Ignoring the time lock, this would lock you into a nest as well as being unable to move your dragons into the Hibden for an entire year. That is less about patience and more about consequence versus reward being absurdly weighted toward the consequence to the point of the reward not being worth it.
Sure, we could choose to just not breed these dragons, but this is a game. Achievements taking long periods of time to complete are one thing because, at the end of the day, they aren't necessary to anyone's gameplay. Even the rewards I have hunted for, while nice, were never something necessary to tip any scales (and that should be the case for that sort of thing). This isn't hunting for something unnecessary. Breeding is a core feature of the game. There's no reason to make such an arbitrary lock on any breed unless you only want it to retain value for an extended period of time.
So I reiterate: this is not about patience.

well originally i was thinking it would take the nest out of commission but id also be open to a year long cool down. i personally wouldnt find it frustrating because games like flight rising are already a slow burn and thats why i like them. i just wish there were more actually rare dragons that were more expensive and took a lot of time to get.

Boy howdy let me introduce you to Nocturne eggs
yeah but you can still breed nocturnes whenever and theyre cheap as any dragon. im not interested in gen 1s because theres no actual difference between them and any other dragon.
