TOPIC | Noticeable lag all around (SOLUTION)

The site has been struck by lag lately (~2 weeks within), making some parts of the website sluggish. I suspect it's because of the influx of new users - I use an ad blocker + cookie blocker all around, which beforehand didn't cause lag.

Overall navigation lags - at best, the pages load within 3-4 seconds. Fairgrounds games older than Artifracture lag. The biggest offender here is the Coliseum, which runs very slow on my desktop computer. The older Fairgrounds games and Coliseum do run on the old domain name, which could be affected by the influx.

More information:
Oddly enough, this lag occurs on my desktop computer only. On mobile, the site runs like normal. The only difference between the two (apart from operating systems, Windows 11 VS Android (Xiaomi 11T Pro)) is the browser, with computer having Librewolf and mobile having Firefox. This is odd, as Librewolf is a fork of Firefox + I have the same extensions installed. Not to mention that recently I did a fresh installation of Windows 11.
SOLUTION:
This is for people who use Firefox, but it might rely on other browsers as well. You can cut a good chunk of the lag by enabling fingerprinting. This, however, is risky, as sites (can) gather information about the system you are on. Because of such, I suggest using something like CanvasBlocker, which can be adjusted to block/allow some elements/websites.

By doing this, (for my machine) Coliseum jumped from around 60 FPS to 165.

I've been experiencing extremely heavy lag today while using the site. Other websites work normally. My browser is Microsoft Edge.

EDIT: It's been better today, from 00:30 servertime forwards.

Same here, I think it started today? It took me 10 minutes to put a few dragons on auction... I don't use an adblocker or any other extensions that would slow down anything. It's not poor internet connection either, other websites are fine. I use Chrome on Win 10.

It's likely the stupidly high amount of users. There was a major hack attack a while back, and im suspecting these same people are flooding the site with botted or alternative accounts.

Which is against tos/tou.

But this is just speculation.

There has also been a major increase in heavily disruptive ads, mainly due to advertising company's pushing them through what flight rising filters. Which, is....probably illegal tbh.

Given the experience isn't universal, it's unlikely to be an issue with the FR servers themselves. The times it has been, everyone had horrible lag.

Imo the most likely cause is the bad hop somewhere near FR that's cause lag for groups of users before. If you have a VPN, turn it on and see if that fixes it (i.e. forces a different route)

I've had the same too. I've experienced these kinds of lag periods I'd say some times per year for 2-3 years now. Glad to know I'm not alone, at least this time. All other sites works just fine. Windows 10, Firefox, Ad/Tracker blocker on, no VPN, Finland
EDIT: Just spent probs a minute to load G&G on Fairgrounds... User count 8157 might explain it. Also Archaelogy lagged to white... User count 8085

@Vendrus Every time I've tried using VPN its made using the site worse (lagging even more and even logging me out). I think at some point the devs/mods also stated that using VPNs isn't advisable due to some bot guard thingamajigs. Don't know if it's been changed since, I was on a hiatus-ish thing for couple of years

@Saddi
If it was server-related more people would be experiencing it (the bug forum gets flooded). It's running at full speed for me (as in on track to max G&G in under 10 mins). Just booted up the VPN I have on my phone and no issues loading FR there either.

Extreme lag here as well, I did speed tests and my connection is fine. I'm also using other sites perfectly fine, it's only Flight rising that is slow [emoji=ridgeback sad size=1] It's been bad for a while now, but today it's so bad I can't level the rest of my fodder in coli anymore, I have 14k ping in coliseum. I'm on Opera Gx with a bunch of ad blocker and pop up blocker extensions, but I also tried it in Chrome with no extensions and it was actually so much worse, I couldn't even launch a coli battle :/ As an update, the coli lag disappeared for me since around 18:00 FRT

Can't do Coliseum since yesterday because of constant lag. Any other sites or online games works perfectly fine. My browser is Microsoft Edge if that helps.

I've had the same problem, and it's only FR that is slow for me. Things takes multiple seconds to load, which it hasn't before, but coliseum has been completely unusable the past couple of days for me. And as said, like others here, everything else on my computer and other websites work normally.
