Nah, I'm with you. I don't always dress my dragons, I even more rarely actually look at the marketplace, but I really love to have the option to do so. I also genuinely don't like how they are shoehorned into lore. Ancients are not for me, and that's okay. It's nice to have limits on my buying. It's fun to see others get excited. I like that. The only real nitpick I have about ancients (and now babies) is how many slots they can take up in festivals(I am team More Slots and a better spread), and how clicking them can derail a whole morphology moment. But those are tiny problems, and genuinely I don't feel like I'm missing out by ignoring them. Contrarily, it's a lot of fun to be surprised by them when browsing others' lairs.

idk, not being able to dress ancients was never a problem to me. those linebreakers make it all worth it ... medusa and skuttle are so good

Unfortunately I am like you, I can not enjoy a dragon I can't dress up. Creating outfits, especially for fandragons, is my favorite aspect of the game. I tried to own a couple of ancients, but ended up exalting them within a week because they just weren't fun for me.
I do really like Veilspuns, Sandsurges, and Auraboas though.

I spend a long, loooong time with my outfits and that can burn me out hella quick, especially since the dragons tend to wind up as breeding projects anyway so I'm sitting there suffering through breeding projects while making some pretty ancients in my downtime.

Every one of my ancients I got on a whim because I needed an adult for coli or achievements (im relatively new), and I hated them. After a few weeks though, I discovered some really nice sandsurges- which made me really fall in love w the breed. I'm gradually adding some more ancients- and most I just cant stand or really dislike the breed looks. i found it just took time for me to grow on ancients! just pretend theyre literally old and ancient so they dont know what fashion (apparel) is like /j
