TOPIC | Thoughts on Thylacine?
I love it. Especially on male wildclaws with savanna primary.

i wish the gradient was less bold with certain colors, but i do enjoy the gene overall; i need more dragons with it tbh

Sometimes I like it, and sometimes I don't. I feel like its a very circumstantial gene

Super love it! But I think it works better with some genes for sure.

Thylacine would probably be one of my favorite genes IF it didn't have the overlay / gradient under it....if it was just the stripes it would be fantastic, but unfortunately with most colors the gradient layer beneath ends up blending in with the stripes too much that it just looks muddy :(
They'll probably never change it, but if we could ever get another stripe tert in the future I would love that! (could probably call it Dorsal or Tabby?)

It can be a bit hard to work with, but when it works, it works. I has some of the best coverage of any terts, being along the back and wing tips. That way it doesn't intrude on the primary and secondary too much, while still adding a bold splash of colour. Those eye markings are to die for as well.
That said, I 100% feel the sentiment that the gradient sometimes ruin it. When the gene was first released that was the main opinion on it - cool, but why the gradient? To this day I still yearn for when we get a stripe-type tert that's just cool stripes. No unnecessary detailing or gradients, just plain old stripes.

Thylacine is one of those cases where I wish we had variants - one with the gradient and one without. But I really like it overall and I think I have three dragons with it right now. And I'm also planning a somewhat messy Savanna + Thylacine combo, it's works so great

I'm using it for my Bee-themed dragon

But tbh... and the gradient is a bit of a burden here. I chose Black over Obsidian cause it makes it less pronounced but... it still hinders more than it helps. It's kind of a 'darn it, I really wish Spool gets ported over to Moderns' situation lol.
Still, I can see in all of the wonderful Dragons shared over this thread the Gradient does have it's uses in the right context, and it does make sense for a more 'naturalistic' gene.
What actually bothers me is the gradient on Circuit...

imo thylacine can be super good in some cases
and i like stripes so
my guy Pontus is a great example
the dark green works so well with the wings
