Gen 3 Bocaris and Eurydata were... somewhat worried when they saw the eggs paling on the fourth day of incubation - and wondered if maybe there was something to be said about being cursed... regardless, the two were still proud parents and they planned to do all they could for their hatchlings, as all hopeful parents should. The first one to hatch was... interesting. She was just like her mother in most ways, from being a spiraling worm of a hatchling to having most of her mother's markings- in fact it appeared at first glance that she had inherited nothing from her father, not even his oddly faceted eyes. But... upon moving closer to her, it was a feeling of despair that washed over the two parents. The curse was real, they thought in time with one another, though what exactly would it mean for their little hatchling girl? Sure her siblings had found their way into the abyss, but she still remained. Yet the young spiral still twirled and danced amongst the winds and waves. She danced so much and so often, that she drew the eye of a fiery young male of the winds and ice. He came upon her dance and rather than questioning her antics, as so many oft did - he joined her. Day after day, he said not a word, but simply joined her. Theirs was a love, not of sound, but of movement alone. Cassia loved young Cassovan - as he one day announced to her in a stumbling, throatial sound. And one thing, as it will, led to another. Cassia and Cassovan now hovered anxiously over their first nest together, a nest of four eggs - neither knowing of the curse that had been laid upon Cassia's grandmother, for Bocaris had never spoken of it to his daughter. Cassia - the young cursed spiral, lived a life of relative happiness. Sure her siblings had found their way into the abyss, but she still remained.

Neither knew what would lie in wait for their young ones, the poor, unfortunate souls.

The firstborn was an unusual sort, for certain, bright colors warning of poisonous blood, but nothing entirely abnormal for this realm of the world. They were distant cousins to the Maren, after all.

The second to hatch inherited his father's skeletal appearance, in a more camouflaged manner. He would have made a fine hunter, were it not for his bright red appearance.

The third to hatch looked more like her father than her mother, but still the family thought only of happiness and joy, three of their four hatchlings had joined their world, and none of them looked a pip unhealthy.

The fourth, oh but the fourth... 'twas the bringer of woes to the young family. One look into his swirling, outpouring eyes had the couple frozen in shock and shudders running down their spines. Murmurs had followed Cassia throughout her life, but never once had she listened, woe that she had listened then.

Cassovan, who had only held love in his eyes for Cassia, grew distraught, and bid her leave the child alone. When the spiral refused, he swept the young Skydancer into his arms and fled.

Cassia, the young cursed heir to her father, now knew why he and her grandmother had gone into hibernation rather than face what horrors she could see brewing in their future.

The water constantly pooling out of her eyes might have had something to do with that... to an extent. The fact that she also couldn't resist staring into the full moon might have been another sign altogether. Her father had cared for her early on in life, and she'd never seen her mother, save for the moment of her hatching. Cassia, her mother, had gone into hibernation with her ancestors, and after Cassia was grown enough to care for herself, Cassovan, her father, had followed suit. Daelyara didn't necessarily mind the solitude. It was nice, and peaceful rather than the chaotic wonder her siblings and aunts and uncles had grown accustomed to. No, Daelyara was happy, even if she knew something was wrong with her. Cursed, others would whisper... cursed. Eventually she found a wildclaw male who appeared similarly cursed - with his crackling skin that threatened to flake off. A kindred soul, she saw in him, and he in her. Their mating was nothing special, simply a matching of friends who had a need to raise young together. Later in Daelyara's life, she'd state that she was pulled to raising a nest, a feeling that she really couldn't much explain. In the end, there were three eggs, and the two cursed parents, or rather, one cursed and one assumedly cursed - looked upon their nest in wonder while they saw the cracks appear. Daelyara had always known she was different.

The firstborn, a female, looked decidedly normal, mostly like her mother in pattern, but quite like her father in colors.

The secondborn, another female, also appeared quite normal, though she appeared to have a darker side that neither parent could explain. Still nothing in either parent's mind thought anything akin to a curse.

Even their thirdborn, and youngest hatchling, their only male, did not show any signs of being cursed. It was odd, in both parents' minds, that they should both have heard tale after tale of cursed lineages, only to find themselves glancing at three remarkably normal hatchlings.

Little did they know, that their secondborn only appeared normal, and that her symptoms would only grow as she grew. Glancing at the moon was simply the first growing sign of the lineage based curse.
