kuwagata tsumami was a short web series about a girl who is half-stag beetle. she lives with her mother, a human woman and her father, an anthropomorphic stag beetle. i haven't watched many of the episodes but tsumami is very cute!
tsumami has appeared in a few video games and half of the series remains lost media.

Gregory Horror Show has been an obsession of mine since like May 2022 and it's so slept on like it's honestly sad to see,,, It's both a game and a show but I feel like more people know about the game than the original show
It's a horror comedy but it does have some fantasy themes as well!! 4 seasons (I'd recommend skipping the 4th tho if you do watch it because uh,,,)

It's about two robots in high school trying to survive life on their planet (filled with extremely violent robots). It's an interesting show and an under two hour watch for free on YouTube.

I dunno if they're necessarily obscure, but I've only ever met one person who knows about Sleepy Tom nor Autodale. It's a shame because Sleepy Tom is an adorable little short, and Autodale is a very interesting series of a few animated videos.

I have one that not a lot of people may know about and it’s somewhat obscure. It’s called Galaxy Railways and it was created by late manga artist and anime writer Leiji Matsumoto. Other works of his include Space Pirate Captain Harlock, Galaxy Express 999, and Space Battleship Yamato. Galaxy Railways it not as well known as some of his other works, but this one was the first anime I ever watched so it’s got a special place in my heart.

If anyone is looking for any sci-fi anime I recommend this one, but trains in space may not be everyone’s cup of tea. But I enjoy it.

I've heard of Galaxy Railways! only briefly, it was mentioned in a review of Captain Harlock iirc, but I had heard of it! never got into it since I was watching too many series already, but I've always been curious about it.

i love obscure animation. <3 especially weird stuff.
my favorite thing i found this past year was unicorn wars. it's very not for children so i wouldn't recommend it to anyone who's sensitive to.....anything, but if you don't mind some bizarre and dark subject matter, unicorn wars or anything else alberto vazquez has created is very interesting and shockingly good.
another one with a very different tone is scruffy. i remember seeing it on tv as a kid and watched it again not too long ago. it's very sweet.
i'm sure i could think of more haha maybe i'll be back. i'll definitely lurk for recommendations at least.
