I remember having a Windows 95 computer and snatching up handfuls of AOL CDs from Walmart when I was a kid.
I was seven when Desert Storm started.
I remember when Yahoo, Excite and ICQ were the best ways to contact people online.
Downloading things took hours, even if it was a single MP3.
Using the phone meant disconnecting whoever was online.
I recall being able to go wherever I wanted to and do anything I wanted to, without my parents worrying about what I was doing, who (if anyone) I was with and where I was-- as long as I came home when the street lights came on.
I remember making collect calls from payphones when I didn't have spare change in my pocket. (1 800 COLLECT was a lifesaver on many occasions!)
Block and street "wars" were not only pretty common, but they were a lot of fun.
TV commercials inquring: "It is now 10 PM... do you know where your children are?" were a normal nightly occurrance.
I was thrilled to get a NES when I was eight years old. It was a major step up from the Atari.
Mario/Duck Hunt was one of the first NES games I owned.
I miss the days when Enix and SquareSoft were separate companies that both made great games.
I beat Dragon Warrior 3 for the NES after sinking 85 hours into the game.
I not only played Magic: The Gathering (including in tournaments at game stores) but had a Black Lotus. I started playing during First Edition.
I was one of the first people to play NexusTK when it was made available to American players in 1998 (and I played it up until five years ago.)
I remember when RPGs had extremely interesting plots and characters.
I walked to (and home from) school and no one had to worry about anything.
ElfQuest was extremely popular when I was in middle - high school.
I did not have a cell phone until I turned 21. Until then, I had a beeper, which I was given when I was fifteen.
My first handhold console was the Game Boy.
I had a Commodore 64, VIC, Tandy and Amiga at different points in time.
INTERPLAY is the only company that could make a good game in the Fallout series-- they were the original creators (and the Fallout series began with Wastelands, Fountain of Dreams and Meantime, all three of which were for the Commodore 64.) I detest Bethesda and despise what they did to Fallout.
Infomercials came on TV after 10:00 PM and one of them had been for Chia-Pets.
Sailor Moon, Voltron and Speed Racer were the first three shows that got me hooked on anime.
Netscape Navigator was THE best browser.
AltaVista and AskJeeves were the BEST search engines
