@AzureFox2100 ello there! :) Hope it's ok for me to interrupt, just I'm afraid you misspelled ShadowsAsunder's name (probably autospell, I stuff up pings all the time myself), so they wouldn't have got your ping?
I wanted to see if I could help with your question though about subspecies- subspecies are comprised of dragons who fit a certain set of parameters, and if they present traits which fall within those parameters (like a colour range, etc) then they qualify as a 'member' of that subspecies. The parameters include any combination of; specific genes, gene/colour combinations, sometimes Eye colour (flight of birth), sometimes rarely even having to be born of certain bloodlines. Many subspecies are as open and casual as 'if the dragon fits, they're qualified' and some have a policy of a few near-miss colours or traits still is close enough to be qualified, but it totally depends on the creators of that subspecies. Like, I have a Firefly subspecies fae which failed to qualify because she wasn't born in Fire. This gave me a lot of lore ideas, so it's not necessarily bad :D Kids of a subspecies dragon can only qualify as that subspecies if the kids still fit the parameters, as before. It's as complicated or as simple as the individual creators make it :) I hope that helps at all? :)
