i don't really see how them fitting the modern dragon body plan is an issue? from a design standpoint every breed looks very unique, and staff never *promised* that each ancient would have a unique body plan.
plus, plenty of people were asking for a "bald" dragon since we have so many with fur and feathers. these guys still look ancient to me! i think if they had any other body plan, people would be complaining about "another bug dragon" tbh
