The earth is, to an extent, unyielding. It can crumble, it can grow, it can preserve. The Earthshaker, in all his wisdom, could hear the nasty curse of the Plaguebringer inside the egg and knew that the hatchling would not thrive without interference. The ground is host to many microbes that help to filter and ensure the health of the soil. These very microbes invaded the egg, attaching themselves to a living host and bolstering the immune system. The microbes coexist with the immune system and together they filter the curse out daily, creating a delicate balance that never ends. Due to this, the curse is still a threat, but it does not cause any issues to the health of the hatchling. As long as the balance is maintained the hatchling will be alright - an overabundance or lack of the microbes can have lethal consequences.

Despite Rhaizus' father not having the gift of Threadsight, she does. She doesn't understand what it is she's seeing, and unfortunately for her - neither do her parents. Rhaizus turns to her grandfather, eyes big and wide in uncertainty as she searches for answers, and Aerlyx is delighted to teach her what it is she's seeing. Rhaizus sees the Threads in varying shades of greens, reds, and black - her Threadsight is different than usual. Due to Rhaizus family being cursed by the Plaguebringer she sees the sickness and the rot in the Threads. She can see how ill something may be, and when it is time for that sickness to either fade away or take its toll.
