Her parents are caretakers of a magical forest. Inside the maze, it is the only natural landscape that looks like it’s underground. The light is brought about by the dragons and in recent years the lights they construct. The nature of the forest is coming and going, for each dragon who calls the maze home a tree sprouts, the tree wilts when the dragon leaves but stays where it is should the dragon spend their life there. It’s a monument to how long the maze has been in use.

Their population has been low recently. Her father is the newest member and while the tree called her father to join them and tend to the life trees, the tree sent this young woman out on a different journey. Her little sprout will wilt but her family will preserve a leaf and hang it one of the light sources they made to aid in their job. Her light belongs elsewhere.
