A seer's daughter shuffles tarot cards with well-practiced ease, her eyes locked onto something in the distance of the alpine plains that is too far to be seen. She is broken out of her reverie when a card slips from her deck, landing on the worn boards of her house's wooden porch. Sirene plucks the card from the ground, and frowns as she rubs the smooth surface between a finger and her thumb. The Chariot card. An important card of the Major Arcana, representing freedom, empowerment, and fluidity in changes. Sirene's eyes drift back to the plains, as she searches for something that only exists in her dreams. Freedom, huh. . . This beast sweeps into town on the back of a merchant's wagon, spinning tall tales to the local innkeeper to pay for a room. Chariot, he calls himself, though he laughs and winks and claims it's a nickname; no-one knows his true name, and he's not inclined to tell anyone. He enchants the locals, telling them stories of terrifying Emperors, vast untouched valleys, crowded harpy cities, and anything in-between. Inevitably, a dragon will become so enamored with his tales that they'll begin to wish they could travel the world. Chariot hears their subconscious longing, their wanderlust, as clearly as a church bell. At night he creeps into their dreams, building elaborate fantasies of far-away lands for them to explore. They will not awaken in the morning; they remain in their dreams, exploring to the ends of Chariot's imagination, their soul rotting away as their body gives up. Of course, Chariot will be gone before anyone begins to question what happened. Onto the next town, and the next victim.
