Biography
Burn, flame Turn, flame rising up in step. Embers glow down below where'er the beat is kept. Rise, flame, Size, flame, conquered by a song. So control bright wind and coal, and we shall feed thee long. |
Coinnle squinted behind his eyeglasses as he made his way down the staircase. Despite the frames, and his flames lighting up the stairwell, each step blurred if he didn't focus on it. He would need to acquire new spectacles soon, he resigned. He seemed to be going through them quicker these days, perhaps a combination of not only his age, but also perhaps his career. Each night, he wanders the temple of Past Echoes quietly, hoping not to disturb any monks or visitors amidst sleep. In the darkness, he continued to stoke the fires of the halls. The fireplaces, the torches, any failing ember was to be rebirthed and rejuvenated to light the shadowy hallways of the sanctuary. Traveling in the solemn dark, Coinnle found himself surprised to stumble upon a large figure blocking much of the light from a common room's fireplace. By now, even the most energetic of dragons had usually retired. As he approached the dragon slowly to wake them, and send them away to bed, he surprised to see the the dragon hadn't simply fallen asleep before the fire, but was instead still awake. As he approached, they turned their head to him with a wide and kind smile. "Oh hello, Coinnle. I haven't seen you in awhile." Coinnle smiled as well as he recognised the temple's kitchen helper. They always were a bit energetic for his old soul, but it was hard for anyone to dislike the lively dragon. "A pleasure Genvieve. Although I must ask, why are up at this time? Surely you have things you must do when morning comes?" The imperial chuckled at him lightly, "Coinnle, don't be a worrywart. I just couldn't sleep alright, it's too cold in my room. Too drafty. I really should get a fireplace installed in there, shouldn't I?" "I believe you have mentioned before that you would appreciate such a thing in your quarters, if you would like, I could begin installing one for you as soon as I able?" The imperial patted his shoulder to stop him, and gazed at him with raised brows, and with what he could best guess was an incredulous look on her face. "Do you ever stop working Coinnle! Take a break sometime, get outside some more. You must find something else to obsess over than fire!" The imperial laughed, perhaps too loudly for the hour of night. "Don't you ever miss the days you spent traveling? You always said you enjoyed exploring Sorneith!" "You know I no longer travel. I'm content with what I've seen, and I'm also content with what I do." "I agree, you do seem quite content, if that "fluff" of yours says anything!" The imperial chuckled as Coinnle just raised his eyebrow at their mirth, but couldn't help a small smile from creeping onto his face nonetheless. "Well, since I can't fall asleep, do you mind if I join you for your patrol. Just for a little while?" Coinnle gazed at the friendly Imperial before nodding his head slowly. "I wouldn't mind."
