Maya

Maya, when asked, would say she hatched walking. Her first memory is of shifting grass through her claws, her first lessons on how to grasp rocks to climb, her first taste of freedom being seeing the sand below her race by as she flew across the landscape. She is curious, unbound, and joyful always. But she is flighty, and her attention span is short. A fun friend, loyal when around, but often away.

She always wandered, which limited her bonds with others. She could not sit still, and her social skills suffered for this fact. She would watch others in the short time she stayed in one place, and never connect. Until, one day, she noticed she had a passenger. Tail wrapped gently around her horns, a Fae asked to tag along once he was noticed, a soft smile on his snout. She saw no reason to refuse, and so she and Zyc became travel partners, then friends, then mates. It was after they had grown, and seen some of their world, that she decided to make a home base. For she did wish for family, and to provide a place for wanderers to find their feet.

Maya is the spirit of the Wanderer's Bastion, and often goes on long rambles of things to keep in mind when traveling or places dragons should go see. Her role revolves mostly around scouting and checking in with others to make sure they have what is needed to expand and survive. While she is away often, when she is around, she is not negligent. Whatever is needed, she will find a way to provide.

Maya's familiar was a funny catch. During routine battle and survival training in the Training Fields, Maya was walking some of the younger clan members through what to expect. Suddenly, they were waylaid by...! One bird. A Rage Puff, feathers puffed out more than they've ever previously seen. Furiously tweeting in their path. Maya's teammates recoiled slightly, startled, but not Maya. Laughing uproariously, she sat, delightfully giddy. The Rage Puff didn't appreciate this, attempting to scratch her, but she easily secured one set of claws on the Rage Puffs head and prevented it from approaching further. It persisted, pushing against the claw, tweeting furiously, when it suddenly broke into understandable cursing, threatening to kick 'your oversized scaled keister'. Maya, amused, just waited until the bird was exhausted, before picking the newly identified him up and saying they were returning to lair with him. When she happily presented her new familiar to Zyc, he took one look at the glaring bird, and muttered 'he's perfect'.

Despite the adjustment period, the newly named 'Puffy' has accepted his new role accompanying Maya on her travels. Prone to puffing up and tweeting piercingly at perceived insults and Maya's forgetful tendencies,
he acts as her loud personal reminder. He's capable of being calm when on the move and feeling the wind, but mostly he's fiery, strong-willed, and easily ruffled.
