Biography
Rescued Hatchling
(Written by Paxlight)
Cascade didn’t remember where he came from, couldn’t remember anything before the crashing waves and the ice-cold water that filled his lungs. He’d seen lights. He remembered that much. There were lights under the water, slowly pulsing. They had looked like… well, not quite like stars. There wasn’t any good comparison, really. Cascade remembered how they seemed to watch him, never drifting closer or floating away. He must’ve passed out at some point, because the next thing he remembered was a sense of panic, realizing the lights had vanished. Then voices, muffled by water but loud with panic, and talons grasping him and pulling him out of the water. Then air, and he wasn’t sure how he’d forgotten about it.
(Later, after he was rescued and had finished coughing up what felt like a small lake, he’d seen his reflection. Had his fur always been covered with a familiar, gentle light? He couldn’t quite remember.)
