LiuQiao, a blood demon, was older than most would expect, feared by appearance alone, and considered a monster by mortals who didn't even know of his existence. His reputation had grown out of thin air, as he wasn't particularly violent or murderous. Powers came to him, unrequested, and he insisted they shouldn't define him. Laid back and far more interested in fun than power and violence, it was a shame most didn't see him that way, but he didn't let it eat at him; the ignorant would remain as such.

For those who did make a friend of him—usually other immortals or, on rare occasions, a human—they knew he was dependable. Despite playing the part of a fun-loving deadbeat, there was something about him they could trust. He spread little white lies, but they could always tell when he was being truly honest, and he wouldn't break those kinds of promises. He had a bit of a protective streak as well, though he wouldn't admit it if told such a thing. Something in him feared being considered 'good,' but he outright rejected the concept that he should be 'evil.'

The blood demon wasn't ever deterred by something most would consider failure. If he failed, he considered it an opportunity to do it again but better. One thing he failed at often was cooking. He didn't understand it, didn't like it, but the fact that he couldn't do it drove him mad. He didn't need to eat mortal meals, yet he often returned to a 'borrowed' kitchen to try his hand at it once more. While he didn't need mortal food, he did have a sweet tooth he wouldn't admit to.

He never considered himself the type to be smitten. Smitten was a word he used to smirk at, something he'd taunt as a weakness in others. That was until he laid eyes upon her. He ate his words and grumbled the entire time, becoming frustrated as he found his thoughts consumed by her. The LiuQiao of the past would have mocked himself, but in the end, he refused to lament over this realization any longer and instead formulated a plan. She was a heavenly being, and he was... well... not one. She would be offended by him, afraid of him, or worse... disgusted.

Slyly, LiuQiao donned a disguise, making it quite handsome without it being suspiciously good-looking. In reality, he barely changed a thing about his beautiful features and silky dark hair. Instead, he masked his powers and acted as a mortal to present himself to her. He didn't need to muster up his courage or confidence to speak to her; it came naturally. The moment they finally met, he started to do what he did best: flirt. His disguise had not failed him; she hadn't a clue about the demon she was truly dealing with. When their paths crossed, he could feel the stirrings of his power, tempting him to let it out while in her presence, to show her just what he really was. Wasn't there the slightest chance she'd be impressed? He didn't risk it; it was the one and only thing he didn't have full confidence in.
