Biography
Rukanko
Alchemist/Warrior
"Don't let personal feelings interfere. You must do what needs to be done." The Southern Icefield was too cold for Rukanko's taste, not to mention surrounded by water. Both of those conditions, not to mention a thirst for adventure were what caused him to leave his home and begin to explore. He traveled first to the Ashfall Waste, excitement at leaving his birthplace pushing him to go to the realm which was all but its opposite, however the heat and flames soon grew too annoying and he moved on. After living in the Windswept Plateau for a brief period, he finally made his way to the Sunbeam Ruins. Once there, he found a small clan in the Sundial Terrace to join, intending to only stay a short while. At first he assisted the clan as a fighter, however despite his size and skill he found little enjoyment in the profession. One day, though, he and one of the members of the clan who he had grown close to, Amerit, were walking through the trading post when he caught sight of an old, green dragon hunched over a big pot. Heading over, he began to drop things in, and soon was enthralled. He could make so many different potions and objects just by combining the raw materials in different concentrations. Although Amerit couldn't understand his new-found obsession, she was soon offering to take his assigned jobs in the lair while he went back repeatedly to learn more from Baldwin. Over time, he became more and more adept at alchemy, although still not as proficient as his mentor (some of his mixtures have a tendency to explode or release toxic fumes). Rukanko found as much enjoyment of his mistakes as when he actually got it right, furthering his belief that this was his true calling. |
Due to his habit of "borrowing" others supplies to use in his alchemy, Rukanko rapidly lost friends in the lair with the exception of Amerit. Since she stuck by him, he tries not to steal too many of her things. He was so caught up in his experiments that it took him a few months to notice the new addition to the clan. The wildclaw mostly seemed to stick to himself, training and patrolling when he wasn't in his lair and refusing entry to any who tried to visit. After observing him for a few days, Rukanko decided that he was going to make this other dragon one of his friends, no matter what. He was soon dragging Amerit to the other's lair, and they waited for him to return. Despite an initially cold reception, Rukanko stuck to his course with the same determination which had made him one of the best alchemists in the lair until finally Araga began to slowly open up to them. Now Rukanko couldn't imagine life without his two friends, let alone moving on and leaving the clan. Whenever he needs them, he knows he can count on Amerit and Araga to be there for him, whether to provide support or assist him in his alchemical studies. Unfortunately, by now there are few others who are willing to be his guinea pigs, as his attitude had not made him very many friends. Still, he feels more free to be serious with his two friends than with the others in the clan, which Rukanko feels only deepens their bond; he and Amerit are aware that that they are the only two that Araga likes in the clan, even if the wildclaw has a hard time showing them. It was because of this that he and Amerit had moved in with the other, after all. Although he knows that the others of his species usually love to tunnel and expand their lairs, Rukanko has found that while he enjoys the work, he is often to lazy to do very much which has led to Amerit having to force him to do renovations around the lair. Despite his outwardly brash and irresponsible character, Rukanko takes good care of those under his protection. In battle he is confident (sometimes too much so), and his flamboyant personality often misleads those around him. He is highly loyal to those who he believes have earned it (not always those in charge), and while he has the skills of a good leader himself he prefers to remain in the background and let others take the glory, provided they remember that they owe him later. Name Origin: Based on a game I saw in a newspaper. :D Hobbies: While he does not get much enjoyment from tunneling, Rukanko does enjoy alchemy, even though many are starting to find his mistakes a little too coincidental. He collects scroll cases, just in case one has a recipe that he hasn't written down yet, as well as Serthis potions which he likes to analyze. Besides alchemy, Rukanko enjoys spending time with his friends Amerit and Araga, even though most of that is spent training. There is one hobby which is uniquely his own; Rukanko, despite Amerit's disapproval, likes to collect the creepy horse toys that he sometimes finds in the ghostlight ruins. While he thinks they are adorable, she finds them immensely creepy apparently. He likes to keep them lined up on any shelf space not already taken by cacti. |

I am NOT immune to whatever is the thing with characters or dragons with darker body and lighter, contrasting head/face. And i am a big, big, BIG male ridgeback fan, so I couldn’t not pick Rukanko! I also like the pop of red that the eastsong face mask gives him! Guy straight up slays.Rayymond

Rukanko is just so appealing to me and I'm not entirely sure why. I really really like the more simplistic apparel you have here and how it covers his main body almost completely while also leaving his wings totally bare. The mask is an excellent choice and I like that the science amulet adds a bit more going on to his neck that draws your eyes to how otherwise uncovered it is. Once again I applaud you use of circuit on a dragon that isn't techy/lightning, it's really well done and I love how his alchemist tools match it perfectly. He's very cool overall :) RiptailShredfang
