Role He gathers materials for the clan, charts areas he explores and sells the maps, and brings back pieces of ancient smith work for the clan's smiths to study and replicate. Restores and modifies ancient artifacts. He is also the clan's Lightning Ambassador, and represents the clan to others who are from The Shifting Expanse. History Artemis was born to a clan of wealthy engineers who lived in the Tempest Spire. From the day he hatched he was an unusual youngling, rather than experiment and create mechanical wonders with his nestmates he preferred exploring the abandoned regions of The Shifting Expanse. In those dark, forgotten places he found trinkets of an ancient age, and with his ingenuity and magic, he was able to revive many forgotten relics to their former glory. Rather than create, he renewed. Instead of inventing, he modified and restored. He was also the only youngling who actually listened to the stories told by the elders, and with every telling his thirst for this forgotten world grew. On his Nameday his parents presented him with a Livewire Grizzly, whom he affectionately named Bran. His passion for artifacts lead him throughout the realms of Sorineth. He travelled to each, mapping, exploring, restoring, discovering. He would often sell some of his restored pieces to finance his trips, returning with oddities that had not seen the light of the sun in ages. He grew quite adept at bartering. After a few years he found a home in the Clan of Rising Embers. After bartering with them peacefully for a few months, he claimed an alcove in their den as his own - a base of sorts, from which he plans his next adventures. Bran accompanies him on these adventures, and often carries supplies for the both of them. Personality Adventurous, though not exactly brave, Artemis has no fear of the unknown but will avoid physical confrontation with many other dragons. He is an excellent fighter, even by his species standards, he merely prefers to outwit his opponents or come to a mutual agreement. Although he will avoid physical confrontation, he is not afraid to speak his mind and can come off as blunt. He also has a penchant for sarcasm. He is honest to a fault to his friends, but a smooth liar to strangers. He is not quick to trust but once befriended he is a friend for life. He is quick to judge others, and has a hard time letting go of grudges. Artemis has a passion for history and keeps many scrolls and tomes in his den. His den is very messy. When excited he seems to have the energy of a spiral. After traveling for so many years he has picked up a few odd cultural quirks. An example of this is, when setting out on a new adventure he prefers to leave on the night of a full moon for good luck. He enjoys humming while working and considers himself a gentleman, even though many assure him he's a bit of a rouge. Relationships Mate: Trying to woo Oriana. Deity: Stormcatcher Friends: Gets along best with Cornelian and Maverick, but well liked in general. Respects Aurien and sometimes plays pranks on her. Has a friendly rivalry with Oriana. Foes: No real enemies currently, other than those who have stolen his treasures in the past. Cobalt doesn't like him very much and still questions his loyalty. He enjoys raising Cobalt's ire. |
