Hope's Story

Hope is my dream dragon. She means an awful lot to me, and is essentially a 'living' reminder that things aren't as impossible as they may at first seem.

Her story begins some time before I even started playing Flight Rising.

I found out about FR by accidentally stumbling on the wiki, and experimenting with whatever features were available without setting up an account. One such feature was the Scrying Workshop - so I used it a lot!

One day, I entered the Workshop to be faced with the most beautiful (in my eyes anyway) Imperial hatchling - Raspberry Falcon, Forest Flair, Ice Glowtail and Water Innocent. She immediately caught my imagination, and I started making up lore for her and browsing for apparel listed on the wiki.

When I did, finally, get FR, I obviously tried the Dragon Search to see if such an Imperial - my perfect, impossible wishlist derg, actually existed. She didn't.

After that, I kind of gave up. I forgot the initial specificity of my search, and assumed no dragon with that colour pattern existed.

Instead, I occupied myself by developing and caring for my clan - in short, keeping myself too busy to think much about her, apart from playing around with her outfit on the dressing room.

On the 1st of Feb 2022, that changed. For some reason, I'm not quite sure why, I decided to try the Dragon Search again - this time, only looking for respberry/forest/ice.

This is where the impossible coincidences start to stack up.

Two dragons, currently, have this colour pattern. Only two, out of the myriad dragons the deities have blessed Sornieth with. One of these dragons is male. The other, I saw, was female.

A female Nocturne. From Water Flight (Hope's native Flight). One thing that was never permissable for me to change about Hope was her Flight - always, when trying different breed/colour combinations (none of which looked as good), her Flight remained Water.

With swiftly-growing excitement - and hope - I clicked on her page, and it was with, quite frankly, pure shock, that I realised that she was in a tab marked 'FOR SALE' - and that she wasn't yet listed on the Auction House! She was even the build that I'd imagined Hope - smaller than average, and long in the wing.

I don't think it really initially sank in for about a day as the surprise was too great, but on the 2nd February, I PMed her owner and (massive and heartfelt thanks to Triruntu - really and truly thankyou!) Hope joined my clan.

I don't mind that she's a Nocturne, and couldn't change it anyway - alas for Imp breed change scrolls being Kickstarter only! But even if I could, I don't think I would. She means easily more to me than any other dragon.

Initially, I wanted to use her in a breeding project to try and get Hope-the-Imperial, but I just want to leave her as is :)


Anyway, thanks for even reading this far, and, I guess, just remember that impossible things are maybe not that impossible after all! It certainly doesn't hurt to Hope...
