Daring | Quick | Protective
Name origin: Barbarian. Pronunciation: GOG-day-el
Not a unique color combo by any means, but I think she's great Born with the fabled many eyes of the gods, Ghogdael was always slated for greatness. Regardless of one's birthright though, leadership and power are never given within the clans; they are earned through battle. And Ghogdael is no stranger to battle. The Barbarian clans are known for their inclination towards war, and during her childhood they were constantly at odds with surrounding clans, and, as she grew older, the expanding kingdoms to the north. And though the chieftain from her childhood was more or less adept at keeping the clan safe from their fellow Barbarians, he was not a strong leader in the face of these new, foreign threats. While she was a leader in the clan's army, Ghogdael and several of her followers grew tired of the old chieftain and his failures. She challenged him to a fight to the death, the ancient trial required to take over a clan. It was a long fight, but she emerged victorious. Now dealing with the turmoil of having a new leader, Ghogdael had the clan's forces retreat back to their homeland. After several years of rebuilding, it became clear that, while the clan was stronger than ever, the threat from the north was too great to face head on in battle. Thus began the current era of the clan where they are stuck isolated in the south, defending the Barbarian lands that grow smaller and smaller as the north swells. and while this isolation has allowed for them to hone their skills and build their ranks, it has also left their lust for battle unsatisfied. Ghogdael must do her best to keep her people safe and as orderly as possible as the world changes around them. Thankfully, Ghogdael is highly regarded as a leader. Under her influence, the clan (and by extension, the Barbarian peoples as a whole), have reconnected with their origins, uncovered ancient holy locations, and rediscovered a vast wealth of knowledge and old magics that had been lost to time. This enlightenment period along with the everpresent enemy of the northern kingdoms also allowed for a state of peace (or at the very least, a state of not actively being at war) between the many Barbarian clans as well. As time wears on though, her people long more and more for the thrill and glory of battle once more. And though she knows that the armies of the northern kingdoms have become to great for them to defeat on their own, she continues to train her warriors for a war she hopes will never come to pass... note: this story and characters are based on a book I'm writing, not FR lore :) ![]() modified code from orru |
