Eyes like the ocean draw you in, then pull you down to the darkest depths. Like a whirlpool, like a Maelstrom. But there is a sadness in his eyes, deep and dark.
Maelstrom is a dancer. His movements are fluid and beautiful. Saturn discovered him one day when she met with another clan leader in the Sea of a Thousand Currents. The clan leader was fat and selfish, all of his clan members were starving, including Maelstrom, while their leader feasted on their catches. Saturn had been invited for dinner and a show, with Maelstrom as the show and the family's hard work as her dinner. The fish was delicious, but Saturn couldn't help but notice how thin the face of the dragon that brought it to her was. In fact, everyone she saw was thin, moving slowly and weakly. She didn't like it one bit. During the show Maelstrom moved so weakly that his leader began to chastise him for it. Saturn stepped in and let loose on the chieftain, scolding him and scratching him until he was bleeding and cowering as she reprimanded him.
"You call yourself a leader, yet your family starves! You grow fat from their hard work, and they get none for themselves! You're not worthy of your title, you're not worthy of the bounty you reap. You are not in charge anymore."
She turned to his clan and said, "You are free! Run, escape, go live your lives!"
But Maelstrom did not run, instead he walked over to Saturn and sat next to her. She turned back to the chief but he had fled as well, leaving only Saturn and Maelstrom in the cave. She turned to leave and the tundra followed closely behind her. He followed her all the way home and has danced happily with her family since.
