Biography
The pack was raring to go. Calico noticed how each mirror
quivered at the sight of prey. Slowly the slim dark shapes of the other five dragons slunk down the slope, careful to stay downwind. Sudden movement caused a chain reaction and the mirrors gave chase. From far away the coordinated movement of so many dragons at once almost impressed Calico, but he heaved a heavy sigh and followed the noise of prey and dragons down the slope. This went on for some time as the appetite of the pack was slowly replenished.
"So this is why you hunt beyond the border? Is there not
enough prey there?" Calico asked the light blue leader when he had a chance to catch up.
The mirror returned a blood stained smile. "One of the reasons.
We also hate sharing."
Calico decided he still didn't like mirrors.
As the day wore on, a few of the pack members
began to look around and one by one slunk off on their own.
"Where did your team go?" Calico asked Arctic while the two
stood in an empty clearing.
"Oh they got tired of hunting. They'll make it back fine. We
always do."
"Right but there are miles of forest between us and home right
now. Do you even know where we are right now?"
Arctic snorted "Well no but-"
"That's just great. I should have never agreed
to this."
Both dragons' heads snapped up at movement along the trees.
A flash of blue on blue and a suprised yelp forced Calico to
heave Arctic off of a new dragon who had materialized seemingly out of the shadows. The imperial was suprised to find the presumably very dead pearlcatcher known as RiverWing shaking the dust from his wings as he stared down his brother Arctic.
The mirror's next lunge was blocked by a blow to the chest
from Calico's wing.
"Ok can you two like not kill eachother?" Calico roared at the
brothers. "Also, Arctic this experience does not improve my opinion of your team."
The mirror snorted and glared at the imperial. "Well only one
other dragon in your team tolerates you and he's too messed up right now to fight. You are stuck with me." He flicked a light blue tongue over his teeth. "As for you," for eyes settled on RiverWing. "I'm going to make you regret living through our last encounter." He glanced over the pearlatcher's scars, courtesy of the mirror's own claws.
"Knock it off." a wack from Calico's tail almost flattened Arctic,
who quickly straightened and dusted himself off indignantly.
"Well good to know you still hate me then." RiverWing shook out
his mane and turned to nod at the imperial. "But he's right. You two are stuck here until you listen to me."
Arctic barked a laugh that was cut short with a fringed wing to
the nose.
"Well that settles it. I want to go home and we're unfamiliar with
this stretch of the forest. If you help us, I will keep this idiot off your back until we are out of your territory. Frankly I don't care enough about what happens to either of you to promise much more."
"Sounds fair to me. We should get going before the sun sets."
RiverWing enjoyed watching his brother's rage spread from wing to clawtip.aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa[/transparent] |
