Biography
Bought for 1.5kg on 06/12/2021
Thread was born a frail and tiny dragon - her wings were paper-thin and dragged on the ground, and even as a hatchling she saw how different she was and worried constantly that she would never fit in or find her place in the world. However, an elderly inventor in her clan took her under her wing, building her a mechanical prosthetic that allowed her to stretch her wings and control her movements.
Even though it was out of the question for her species she still longed to fly, and with her new mechanization she would stand on cliffsides, stretching her wings into the wind and envisioning herself among the clouds. It was because of this desire that she began to befriend the birds that lived near her clan - small sparrows, chickadees, starlings, and other creatures slowly grew more comfortable around her as she spent long hours watching them fly, and she learned to mimic their calls, enticing them over with seeds and other food until they perched on her shoulders and nestled into her horns to rest.
Despite her happy home and peaceful life, she felt unfulfilled. While she knew she didn't have to, she wanted to do something productive for her clan and the world. When she told her parents of her desire to travel to find her purpose they were hesitant to let her go, but they saw the determination in her eyes and wished her luck and safety.
After many years of travel, working odd jobs and living in the wilds when she couldn't find a place to stay, Thread stumbled across a small clan with a tailor in need of assistance. While at first it was just a temporary arrangement, she displayed an unusual level of skill, and her passion for the job only grew as she worked alongside the elderly dragon. He took her on as an apprentice and she worked fiercely to learn all that she could.
Days faded into months, and before she knew it a year had passed in her apprenticeship. She found herself still enjoying her work but she itched for a change of scene, missing the wilderness and the birds she so loved. Her mind often wandered these days, and the elderly tailor noticed. One day he took her aside, a bag in his hand.
"Your training under me is done." His tone was friendly and his smile was warm, but she could see the sadness in his eyes - he was like a father to her by now, and tears streamed down her cheeks as she hugged him. He wordlessly passed her the bag - tailor's tools and enough gold to last her for several months. She knew by now that arguing with him over it would be useless - he was stubborn beyond reason, and she loved him for it. She left that evening, her heart aching as it soared in her chest. Her future had only just begun.
Years passed as she travelled. She repaired clothes and tailored new ones that she sold at crossroads and clans she passed through. One day she came to the mystic plateau and was surprised when she was almost immediately invited into the clan - it was larger than any she had passed through and at first she was intimidated by the size alone, but when she saw the vast expanse of woodland and all the birds that fluttered from tree to tree, she knew she was home.
Now she spends all her days in a cabin at the edge of the forest, close enough to the rest of the clan that it takes little effort to find her, but deep enough in so that the birds who live nearby frequently flutter in through the door to make off with bits of thread and lace for their nests. She doesn't mind - their company is payment enough, and the sound of hatchlings in spring fills her with joy. For now, she wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
