Soren is the esteemed leader of Clan Rulaysia, having been officially passed the reins from the progenitor, Therian, after he decided to retire from leadership. The imperial has been through quite a lot and was forced to grow up long before he should. While stoic and regal in his mannerisms, Soren is the result of a lost childhood never to be reclaimed.

His leadership was immediately put to the test by the tragic fall of a trusted warrior named Ruin, whose death ended in the rise of an Emperor dragon. Untrained and young, Soren sought out assistance from the clan's allies at Shadylex. The warriors within the allied clan trained him in a vigorous and accelerated regimen, as the lives of his clan-mates were at stake. Once his training was complete, he then returned to Rulaysia and led them into battle with Ruin, striking down the beast after a hard-fought and sorely-won struggle. The clan sustained many losses.

Following the wake of the fall of the Emperor, in what the clan refers to as 'The Time of Ruin', Soren was faced with a new threat: the encroaching Shade. Dark and twisted forces came from the western border of the territory, drawn by the fresh fear and death the Emperor had brought to the clan. The leader placed an elite Night Watch around the territory, attempting to keep the darkness from filtering into the clan, but it was for naught. The Shade slipped through the cracks, claiming the heart of the purest of all, the clan mother Freesia. She sunk deeper and deeper into possession until the Shade ultimately brought about her demise, to the horror and dismay of Soren and her clan mates who loved her so.

Wrought with grief and facing a second calamity, Soren knew they had to flee Rulaysia. He took the clan to a cave in the heart of Fire Flight, hoping that they would be hidden enough from the Shade infection to have a breather and regroup. The fugitives huddled in uncertainty, looking to their esteemed leader for direction. After giving the clan time to heal and himself time to think, Soren made the hard decision to split the clan in two. Those who were not fit to fight would flee to the clan's origin lands in Wind Flight, where they would be safe. Those who could would gear up and follow him back to Earth Flight, to battle the Shade and reclaim that which they had lost. Vowing to rise from the horrors that struck them down, Soren rallied his loyal fighters and they are off to war.
