medea's not exactly the most talkative dragon. for most of her day, she sits alone in her cave, mapping out all the possible futures she can foresee. her books and papers are the only things she ever seems to look at - until well-meaning dragons brought some decorations to the lifeless cave, they were the only things in the room. it seems like she cares about nothing else.

of course, that's not actually true; mysteriousness is an easy way to hide that she's shy. medea's just afraid to leave her comfort zone - if prophecy's the only thing she's good at, why do anything else?

the only dragon she really talks to often is mellori, her girlfriend. sure, sapphire will come down to the cave now and again to ask her about the future, but their interactions usually end in an argument because medea's style of foresight is so different from delphi's. celeste is nice enough, but she's so busy with her patients that the two never see each other. if it wasn't for mellori, medea would be alone.

shadow flight has never been known for being uptight, but there's exceptions to every rule. medea's family was always very different from the other hatchlings', and not just because they were from water and light. they valued studiousness, dedication, and a serious temperament, not the tricks and games everyone else played.

medea had a gift - she could look into the future much more precisely than most seers. instead of vague prophecies, she could look through the consequences of any decision, from the likely to the downright impossible. it wasn't without a cost - sifting through the nonsense to find any useful prediction required constant work. she found herself isolated from other hatchlings, feeling that they were immature. really, she wasn't much better, just much more quiet.

the thing that finally took medea out of her house was the pressure to hunt for a charge. never did she actually feel the need to look for one; she felt perfectly complete at home with her books. it was her parents who were constantly telling her that she needed to be better, to "advance in life" and find something or someone to protect. eventually, she got tired of the constant nagging and descended into the ocean to hunt for her "purpose". after many days spent wandering alone in the ocean, medea settled down in an underwater cave. there, she returned to her old pastime of mapping out the branching timelines of the future.

after some time, medea realized that she had already found her charge - prophecy. she remained alone in her cave undisturbed for some time - it felt like both a few days and a thousand years - dangerously close to falling into the trap of repetition. her prophecies were self-fulfilling - if she never looked into leaving the cave, she never saw (in visions or in person) what the rest of the world had to offer.

the thing that finally broke this cycle was the disappearance of the tidelord, something not even medea could foresee. when delphi left to go hunt for her god, the clan above went hunting for a new seer. one day, mellori accidentally stumbled upon the entrance to the cavern and spent the night there, not even noticing medea in the corner. when she woke up, she curiously sifted through the pile of predictions that lay around the room, then attempted to hide among them as soon as their owner showed signs of life.

that day, medea spoke to another for the first time in years. it was strangely comforting. the two had a lot in common - both were raised to focus on one thing alone and adopted a mysterious persona to hide the fact that they weren't good at much else. mellori offered medea a position in the clan as seer; medea offered mellori a place to stay. the pair realized they were in love long after most other dragons did; it took celeste's blunt advice for them to realize they were together.

hhhh their colors are gorgeous. They're definitely giving me deep sea vibes. The black in their apparel makes me think of currents or an abyss. But really though, I'd like to commend you for the amazing blue-black palette she's going on. It's like that quote, "If you gaze long in the abyss, the abyss also gazes into you." If there would be a dragon that would fit into this quote, it would most definitely be Medea, mysterious and foreboding, bringing you to depths that you thought you'd never plunge into...

Finally: Medea!

As I mentioned earlier, I love abyssal looking dragons, as I am rather fascinated by the deep sea in real life. The kelpie manes are one of my all time favorite pieces of apparel, especially with the addition of those striking antlers! The lanterns are another fantastic addition, and that familiar matching is on point. I could go on and on about everything I love about Medea, but I simply must reiterate the idea that her design is so abyssal, yet beautiful... I love her.

I quite enjoy this Guardian. She is quite a bit busier than my usual tastes, but she's so cohesive that I don't mind! The Lanterns, Onyxx set, and the lines in the Notoxide are just PERFECT, and I don't use that word lightly. May I suggest some Baldwin clawtips for her? Most of the time I find Kelpie mane outfits a bit busy, but this time that can't be farther from the truth! The Matchy poison is a nice subtle touch, and it works well with the fest skin you've selected. The fins on the wings really contribute to her look. Seriously, if you ever decide to sell her, please ping me^^
